He had to do something today. Whatever it was, it was taking all day long. The four of you were sat around a bon fire, you having caught fish for everyone, Getou was roasting them on sticks like kebabs, with fresh veggies too. It was already moonlight and stars. You yawned and as you were about to lean you remember Mahito wasn't there to hold you, so you wrapped your arms around yourself and brought your knees to your chest. You felt a warm hand gently rub your back and you raised your head to look, and to your surprise it was Jogo. The old spirit looking away from you though, with a scowl on his face. You assumed he probably drew the short of the stick but no. He was doing this just because. You were growing on him, that's for sure.

You began to morph, turning into a fluffy wolf, and gently laying your head in Jogo's lap. He was unusually stiff now, you couldn't see it but you felt his sour expression grow.

"Brought that on yourself." Getou commented with a light chuckle, plucking a skewer out of the ground and tasting it. "They're done." He announced quietly before taking another bite. Jogo reached for his but noticed you weren't morphing back to even really reacting to the mention of food, so he rolled his eyes and grabbed yours too, holding it in front of your face. He saw you sniff and stick your tongue out to give it a lick before carefully taking a bite, sliding off a chunk of meat and veggies into your muzzle and munching it a bit before swallowing. You then gently grabbed the skewer from Jogo and bowed your head at him, continuing to eat it, holding the stick down with a paw. Afterwards you even chewed and licked the stick until the flavor was gone before setting it aside. Much to Jogo's dismay, you resumed your spot, placing a fluffy head into his lap and closing your eyes.

"Wh- what's wrong with you mutt?" Jogo asked, looking down at you. Your ear twitched and you opened an eye to look up at him.

"They're sad probably. Mahito's been gone all day." Getou explained, sticking his skewer into the sand and looking over. "Why don't you try to have some compassion. That fur looks very soft, I would give anything to have them lay on my lap." Getou said with a smirk. Jogo scoffed, thinking you can't be that soft, but upon laying a hand on your neck floof, his eye widened a bit and he began to stroke your soft fur. You closed your eyes once again and slowly drifted off.

It was around this time when Mahito returned, looking tired. When he saw that you had turned Jogo into your pillow, though, he smiled and laughed a bit, teasing him as he walked over.

"Where have you been all this time? And get your mutt off of me!"

"Hmm I've been somewhere. And fine, pup isn't hurting you though." Mahito explained, walking over to you and gently picking you up. Your wolf form was definitely bigger than your human form, so it was a little awkward to hold you. He laid you down in the soft sand and sat next to you, stroking your head.

"Mahito, have you ever tried transforming into an animal before? I've noticed Pup looks uncomfortable sometimes when they sleep, and I thought, what if you turned into a wolf and slept beside them." Getou explained.

"Pup could be uncomfortable because of not having a pack, or someone to sleep next to them. It's a good idea, it might make them feel safer." Hanami emitted, watching your sleeping form.

"I could try..." Mahito mumbled, a confused expression on his face. His face elongated into a muzzle, eyes becoming more animal like and ears migrating to the top of his head. Light blue fur sprouted up all over his body and his arms and legs transformed and tail grew out. A minute later he was a light blue wolf with a bit of a mane, and stitches pulling on his pelt in some places. He shook his body to get his fur to lay right and looked up at the group.

"Finally looks how he acts." Jogo commented. Getou clapped in surprised though.

"You look very nice!" He complimented.

"Now I know I can do this." Mahito laughed, curling up behind you. "I'll have to get use to it." He continued, closing his eyes. Unconsciously, you moved closer to him, tail thumping on the ground ever so slightly. That night you dreamt of freedom. Of hunting and running through fielding of wild grass, the sun high over your head. The others thought it was cute how you twitched in your sleep. It was a good night's sleep.

When morning came, you were in your human form. It wasn't uncommon for you to shift in your sleep due to a dream, but what you did find odd was the fluffy mass you had your arms around. Feeling the soft light blue fur, your little hands traced across a stitch and you shot up.

"Pa?! Wolf?! How?! Why?!" You freaked out a little as it was unexpected. Mahito lifted his big fluffy head with a smirk and blepped his tongue out.

"Getou suggested it." He answered.

"You can... talk in this body?"

"I didn't change my vocal chords but it's hard to pronounce some words." Mahito explained, tail swaying slightly. You scooted next to his neck floof and hugged him.

"Pa is soft..." you whisper, eyes closed as you remember something from your past. A strong wolf, big and fluffy, who protected you in your sleep like this. Your real father. No... it wasn't worth shedding tears over. They abandoned you. You weren't going to feel a damn thing for those two. Mahito could feel the hate welling up inside of you, though, and put a paw around you.

"You hate someone right? Someone like you. If you want, we can hunt them down." Mahito offered, slowly morphing back into a human and holding you close, your face pressed into his shirt. You shook your head ever so slightly.

"No... I want you to have them. They are interesting, like me." You explained, looking up at him. Mahito's smile spread and he chuckled.

"Will do Pup. I'll make sure they suffer." He told you happily, patting your back softly.
