Chapter 02

"I thought the distance would heal all the wounds with time, but now I'm fundamentally at war with myself, not knowing a single thing that happened in the loss of my contact with you."

"Ahhh! " Soo Ah screamed at the top of her lungs and backed away, pushing that pale white hand away from hers. Jumping on her own foot, she landed on the floor still eyeing scaredly at the person who was covering themselves. 

When Soo Ah tried to catch a glimpse of that person's face, something shiny caught her eyes. "Our friendship bracelet!" A loud gasp let out of her lips.

"Jiah" Soo Ah slowly stood up and walked towards Jiah, but there was no response from the other person. She saw how that person clutched that blanket to her body like her life depended on it. Soo Ah tried to throw away that blanket again, but that pale hand stopped her like before. Soo Ah knelt down and sat beside the person. Tears pooled down her rosy cheeks without her constent.

"Jiah, it's me, Soo Ah. What happened? W-why are you not letting me throw this blanket away? W-why are you hiding? " Instead of answering those thousands of questions, she heard Jiah's cracked voice muttering a simple "Don't".

Soo Ah felt the pain in that voice. She stared at Jiah, covering her whole body with a blanket helplessly. She crawled to her even though she saw how Jiah's hands trembled violently at her sudden move and hugged her tightly. She pattered where she assumed Jiah's back and kissed her forehead, which was covered with a thick blanket. "No matter what happens, I'm here with you Jiah. I'm not going away again. I'm sorry to you, my bestie. " Soo Ah's sobs echoed through the room. 

After about 10 minutes, she heard soft snores indicating that Jiah had gone into a deep slumber, but when Soo Ah tried to touch the blanket again, she saw that Jiah's pale fists were clutching the blanket tightly even though she was sleeping. She slowly stood up and walked away, closing the door without cracking a sound. When she stepped downstairs, Mrs.Kwon ran to her and took Soo Ah's hands in hers. Her eyes hold an unknown pleading.

"Aunty, what happened? Why is Jiah behaving like that? " Soo Ah's painful voice made tears fall from Mrs.Kwon's eyes. Soo Ah tried hard not to break down in front of Mrs.Kwon and make her more sad, but her tears betrayed her. All they did was cry. Soo Ah was scared to ask the same questions again, so she kept silent and a few minutes later, she walked away. 

She signaled to her driver, who was waiting for her to return, to head back without her, but he gave her a puzzled look, indicating that he didn't understand what Soo Ah meant. Letting out a sigh, she walked to him and said she wanted to walk for a while, so she asked him to head back to the mansion. Even though he was so unsure about doing that, he nodded and left her there. 

When she thought everything was alright and went back to work, the reality was completely opposite to her thought. She didn't know a single thing until she found Jiah like this today. She felt so broken and hurt to see her best friend like that. She felt like she had spent the past few months on another planet without knowing anything, like a fool. She was disappointed in herself. She walked and walked mindlessly to relax her mind, and she stopped when she felt pain in her feet because of the high heels she was wearing. She took them in her hand and walked barefoot without caring what other people said.

People who were passing her gave her weird looks and pity looks, as it was a bit unusual to see someone in a fancy dress in this situation. She walked again until she heard a loud honk. That loud honk dragged her to earth. She shivered when she noticed she was in the middle of a road and a huge truck was coming in her direction. Without knowing what to do, she hugged herself and closed her eyes, praying to God.

Even after a solid 2 minutes, she felt she was still alive. A familiar angelic voice made her eyes shoot open. The person who rescued her was him. He was complaining to her about being so careless. "Soo Ah, Are you out of mind? What the hell are you doing in the middle of a busy road? " She heard that angelic voice unstoppably complaining her and the other was looking at the scenario with wide eyes.

"Jimin" Soo Ah narrowed her eyes at him and then at the people. Then he noticed the others were gossiping and enjoying the thing that had happened a minute before. "What are you looking at? Don't you have any other business to do? " He scolded the people and then they walked away. 

"Soo, what's this? You were so happy this morning, and now what happened to you? and girl, you didn't tell me anything about your arrival. I think you have to do the whole explanation. " He scolded her playfully to lighten her mood. Chuckling at herself, Soo Ah nodded at Jimin.

"I got permission from papa to come back to Korea, so I decided to surprise you and Jiah. Then-" Soo Ah's voice cracked when she remembered what had happened when she went to Jiah's place. She felt a strong hand wrapped around her waist and dragged her to a warm hug. He stroked her hair.

"Did you go to Jiah's place? " Soo Ah broke the hug when she felt that softened voice muttered something knowingly. She stared at Jimin's eyes like she was searching for an answer in his eyes. Jimin understood her stare and gave her a nod before saying, "Let's grab a coffee and talk about it."

They went to the nearest coffee shop and warmed up a little as the weather was a little bit chilly outside. The coffee aroma and the slight darkness in the coffee shop make Soo Ah's mind relax for a while. Jimin held Soo Ah's hand while she was sipping her coffee with the other hand. "Remember the day you flew to Sydney?"
