It was late at night at and Kehlani still wasn't back home yet. Y/n couldn't sleep without her. It was like a foreign feeling to her, not to be in her arms. The room was silent, it was currently raining and the sounds of the water pattering against the window echoed through the room. Y/n sat looking at the ceiling, her slowed songs playing in her ear.

Her thoughts were scattered. She worried for Kehlani hoping she was safe out of the house. She sat up sighing. " Jesus woman the things you do to me." she whispered to herself. Y/n got up and wandered around the big house not bothering to turn on any lights. She felt trapped here knowing kehlani wasn't here.

 Y/n knew Kehlani's phone was dead because she has a funny habit of never charging it. Y/n drug her feet down the long hallway until she saw a light coming from the room at the end. She furrowed her eyebrows curiously walking up to the room and peeking inside. It was the studio light. Y/n guessed her girlfriend left it on. 

Walking in, all the instruments shined against the bright light. Y/n smiled softly picking up her guitar. She always used this guitar to record her songs. Ever since her mom bought it for her she couldn't let it go, especially since she passed away a few months ago. Sitting down, Y/n brushed her fingertips against the guitar's strings thinking. She played some melody trying to find something that pleased her ears.

 She closed her eyes, letting her heart take over , feeling her fingers gliding over the strings gracefully. Her lips opened but nothing came out. Y/n didn't know what to say. She breathed softly just listening to the melody hoping something would come up. She kinda zoned out as she went into the melody. Without her knowing her mouth opened and her voice rang throughout the room. 

Take my hand and rock it real slow

I wanna feel your love tonight

Let's put the world on pause 

and get drunk off these city lights 

I'm all about us tonight

Y/n was now out of it without knowing it. Her heart was in control of every move she made and every word she sang.

*Kehlani's POV*

I opened the door tiredly setting my keys on the table and throwing off my shoes. " Baby! I'm sorry I was late. Everyone got drunk and I had to drive them home. I also got a gift from Lena she wanted me to give you." the house filled with silence. I slowly made my way upstairs seeing the light coming from my studio at the end of the hall.

" Baby?" I more like whispered not knowing if she was asleep or not. I peeked in the bedroom and she wasn't there so my next stop was my studio. As I got closer I heard a pretty song I have never heard before. I looked through the window in the door and saw my girlfriend singing her heart out. I haven't seen her pick up her guitar since she released her last album. I smiled watching her so in her zone.

Nights like this make me feel close,

close to the loneliness I felt before we met

close to the pain when you don't pick up

leaving me to my thoughts while I'm filling up my cup

love ties me into you and knots aren't really my thing

love draws me close to you making my heart sing

Can you hear it?

my heart, I can't control it

I opened the door quietly, the sound of the guitar filling my ears immediately. This is why I always had her as my guitarist. Her way of playing was so unique, you wouldn't find it anywhere else. I slowly made my way to the chair wanting more of her voice.

*3rd person Pov*

Y/n jumped as she heard a loud thud on the floor.

"Fuck." 

Y/n looked up and saw her girlfriend on the floor with the chair flipped on its side. " Babe?" Kehlani looked up, her hair falling all over her face as she smiled. " Sorry baby, I was trying to sit in the chair but as you can see it did not go to planned." she blushed. Y/n giggled putting her guitar down and laying on top of her on the floor. " I missed you." she whispered. Kehlani smiled hugging her girlfriend. " I missed you more, I got caught up with everyone else." she pecked Y/n's lips.

Silence filled the room as they both just enjoyed each other presence. " I heard your song baby." Kehlani spoke playing with her girlfriend's curly hair. Y/n blushed hiding in kehlani's neck. " awww don't be shy, I loved it. Your voice never fails to amaze me. And your guitar skills just leave me speechless if we're being compleltly honest here."  she laughed. 

" The song was about you. I was missing you and I just picked up the guitar and well you heard the rest." Y/n gushed. Kehlani kissed her forhead. " You should make it offical and make a new album." Y/n thought about it. She did blow up alot over her last two albums but what if she was only able to hit it big once? It scared her. " Maybe if you let me, I can feature in one of your songs. I think it will be cute." Kehlani said.

Y/n smiled thinking about making a song with her girlfriend. " Okay. Only if you make a song with me." She squealed hugging her girlfriend tightly. " Yes! Finally. I can't wait to hear your beautiful voice again love."  Y/n felt her stomach flutter with butterflies. Jesus woman the things you do to me.
