Only moments later, still in the nursery
Painter
(back to Roger, as she puts down the last folded onesie)
Ouch, that was a low blow Roger. I didn't bring up the time you ate that gas station hot dog before the Indianapolis show.
Bex
(excitedly, as if she hoped this conversation came up, rubbing her palms together)
Oh sharing bad decisions Roger made? I want to go next! I have been legally required to gather dirt on you for months now. My time to shine!
Roger
(confused)
You are not legally required to do anything like that... And what bad choices? I am really good at my job.
Bex
(smirking with wide eyes then looking down at her phone)
Yeah it was an employment review at first, and then just like as a hobby after that.
Painter
(quickly, arms outstretched to either side)
Hello, I just said the hot dog thing. That is a perfect example of a really obvious and bad choice.
Roger
(flatly, very matter of fact, to Bex)
You are not my employer. Colson is.
Bex
(without looking up from her phone)
I thought Fenix was?
Roger
(eyes squinted, and eyebrows raised, to Bex)
Who said that? I'm certain no one said that. It doesn't even make sense.
Painter
(pointing to herself, looking at Roger through the top of her brow)
Oh Fenix told me that when I moved in.
Bex
(nodding emphatically)
Yeah Fenix told me too.
Roger often forgot that since they grew up together, Bex and Painter has nearly 20 years of practice into playing jokes off one another at a third-party's expense. It frequently seemed that one knew where the other was taking a bit before they got there and Roger just had to hold on to his sanity for dear life.
Roger
(insisting)
I know that your infant did not say that I worked for him.
