Have you ever been so tired that it felt like Velcro when trying to open your eyes?
I groan loudly as I hit the 'stop' button on my phone, halting the patronizing sing-song alarm. The sound still ringing in my ears on loop.
'I really need to change that back to the default setting.'
Lazily pulling on my uniform and making myself look somewhat presentable, I head out the door to face the day head-on. Much to my displeasure.
Trudging down the narrow flight of stairs, I'm met with a commotion emanating from the kitchen. 'Seriously?' I let out a sigh, my brain not awake enough, only to see my little sister and her carrot top friend in the kitchen, cupboard deep. "What the hell are you two doing? It's too early for this shit."
They both pop up from behind the counter looking like a couple of meerkats. "Also, what are you doing here Cheeto?" I ask, resting my school bag on the stool, and sitting on the unoccupied one beside it.
The boy sends me a cheesy grin and hops up on the bench, plonking his butt down making himself at home.
'How hygienic.'
"I thought I could pick up Kenzie-Chan early to walk her to school for Volleyball training this morning!" he states enthusiastically.
Too early, too much energy.
I nod as I make my way to the coffee machine readying my usual cup. I hum, pretending to listen to Cheeto's rants about Volleyball. "Hmm? Very interesting."
The delicious aroma wafting up, a dark creamy liquid flowing into my designated coffee cup that cleverly says, 'Espresso Patronum!' with little round glasses. Deliciously nerdy~
"So, what time are you both heading off then?" I ask, only half caring.
Need coffee.
I pour in the foamy warm milk, the liquid transforming into a caramel colour with a thick creamer on top. I smile at the cozy delight and take a whiff.
Slowly bringing the cup to my lips, the steaming beverage overwhelms my tastebuds. Nectar of the Gods.
"Oh, that's the stuff." Resting back into the bench, my body begins to thaw from the inside out.
Looking up, alarmed by the sudden silence, i see the two first years watching me. "What?" I mumble out taking another sip.
My sister giggles grabbing out the lunch boxes from the fridge. "You have an unhealthy relationship with Coffee (N/N)." She jokes packing one of the boxes in her school bag. The orange-haired boy makes a face of awe.
"It smells really good. I've never had coffee before; my mum doesn't let me drink it." He says gazing at the cup intensely.
Using my body to shield the beloved mug, I shoot him a deadly scowl. My precious!
"And for good reason! You have way too much energy as it is, I don't want to imagine what you could do caffeinated." A shudder runs through me, the thought of the Speed Demon levelled up. Terrifying.
"Shoyo and I are leaving soon, just grabbing something to eat. Did you want to come with us?" My bubbly sister asks, her bright blue eyes twinkling with excitement as she spoke.
I went to flat out reject them when I was stopped by the Road Runner. "Yeah, that's an awesome idea! You can show me how to do that crazy receive from yesterday!"
That instils more reasons to not want to go, dude...
So naturally, I went. To which I dragged my helpless brother along to suffer with me.
