He didn't want to be here. He wanted to stay at the hospital and remain by Gray's side. He wasn't even in the same area as the hospital Gray was in, meaning he wouldn't be able to visit him everyday afterschool.
Stephen Ahn loved his mother, but at the moment he was angry at her for separating him from Gray. She wanted him to continue his education. Oswald Yang's father had blacklisted Stephen from nearby high schools, but Mrs. Lee managed to find a school willing to accept him. His mother told him that a change in scenery and being away from his Byuksan classmates would be good for him.
'Gray would've wanted me to eventually graduate,' He took a deep breath and entered through the gates of Eunjang High School.
Immediately, he could tell that most of the students here were the typical delinquents that bullied others or they were the said bullies' victims.
'Mom said that she wanted me to be as far away from those bitches Oswald and Bryce, that she wanted me to get away from bullies,' Stephen mentally scoffed. 'Well, guess what Mom? Bullies are in every single school! Bullies are everywhere,'
He got to his classroom, Class 1-5, without any incident and took a seat near the front. To keep his mind busy, he scrolled through his phone.
Eventually, the classroom filled up. The person who sat next to him had dark brown hair, light brown eyes, and glasses. Stephen glanced at him and narrowed his eyes when he noticed the boy trying to make himself appear as small as possible.
'So he's the type to get bullied often,' Stephen thought. 'Does he think his situation will improve if he doesn't fight back? It'll only get worse,'
Stephen half-heartedly paid attention to class. It wasn't like the lessons were hard. They were easy for him to understand, but he just found no reason to put in any effort. It's not like there were any cash prizes. If there were cash prizes, he'd enter. But this time...he would keep the money all to himself.
"He thinks he's some saint,"
"He's only doing it for attention,"
"He just wants to look like a good guy, but I bet he's a fake,"
He had been donating it out of the goodness of his own heart. He had been genuinely kind and helped the class out. In return, they had all betrayed him and Gray. They all talked shit about him and Gray behind their backs.
The only classmate he trusted was Jeremy Park. He was the only one who dared to tell Stephen and Gray about the secret group chat, despite knowing that he'd be targeted too if he was caught. Stephen wouldn't mind keeping in touch with Jeremy, but he didn't want to risk Jeremy becoming a potential target too, especially since Jeremy was attending Byuksan High School where Oswald and Bryce were.

Stephen tossed his bag onto his bed once he got home. He then began to attack his training dummy. He had begun to learn martial arts after he had been expelled from Byuksan. His mother wanted him to be able to protect himself. Stephen himself wanted to be prepared in case Oswald sent someone after him for revenge or if any other delinquent decided to target him.
He would not be weak. He would not let others walk all over him. He may have been a pacifist in the past, but fuck pacifism. If anyone came after him, he'd fight back.
His mother had wanted him to try to make new friends in Eunjang, but why should he? The last person he had befriended, Bryce Oh, ended up betraying him. Stephen had been nothing but kind to him, but in return Bryce had hurt him. Bryce had hurt Gray. He had reached out to Bryce when he saw him all alone, but Bryce had secretly been a wolf in sheep's clothing and being with Oswald Yang had brought out the monster within him.
'I don't need friends!' Stephen thought as he delivered one last blow to his training dummy. 'The only friend I need is Gray,'
Besides, friends would make him more vulnerable. Friends were liabilities. Delinquents that wanted to target him would use his friends as hostages so he wouldn't run away. He couldn't count on others to help him in his time of need. No, they would just end up being too afraid to go against bullies and would do what they say, just like his entire class did in middle school.
The only person he could trust in Eunjang High School was himself and only himself.
This is a sequel to my one shot in School Days Sorrows called "Fallen Angel" but this story can be read standalone. I never intended for this to become an actual multi-chapter story.
Stephen is stronger than Gray. Given that he decided to also workout and train during the break in between school years, I'd put Stephen to Gerard (without hands) level.
