pov: langa talks to his dad
---
"Dad, what if I never went to Japan."
Langa sat in front of their father's grave, having this one sided conversation. It didn't seem one sided to them.
They tucked a stray piece of hair behind their now pierced ears. They thought about getting a haircut. It has been a year since they moved.
"I'm glad I did, though. I like skating with Reki. Did I tell you they're my boyfriend? I have a boyfriend, Dad. I'm sorry," Langa vented. Their head bowed as they tugged out a blade of grass.
"I know this goes against what we believe in, but I'll still go to Heaven like you did, right? Reki too? We'll go to Heaven... right?"
The teen looked up with furrowed blue eyebrows, expecting to see a man's face. They were met with stone. Langa's expression faltered and their lips fell into a frown. "Oh. Sometimes I forget that you're... not here."
A sigh escaped their lips and they stood up. They dusted off their behind before taking something out of their pocket and set it in front of Oliver's memorial.
"I don't know whether you support any of this or not. I care, but I also don't. You may be asking why me and my friends are dressed in different colors." They took in a deep breath. "Do you know what Pride is?"
Langa seemed to wait for a reply, standing there in silent on the green. Then a sigh followed. "Reki wore those pastel blues and pinks because- well, I don't really think it's my place to tell. I'll ask him if I have permission to tell you. I'm sure they won't mind," Langa smiled fondly to themself, their mind filled with memories of the redhead. "Cherry wore purple and black because he's asexual. Asexual means you don't experience any sexual attraction. I feel that Cherry and I may be the same."
"Joe wore pink, blue, and purple because he likes men and women. And Cherry. I don't think Cherry cares what he's seen as. Shadow came but didn't really dress up. I think he wanted to, though. My boss, Oda, couldn't attend, but he has a small Pan flag at the desk of Dope Sketch. I'll tell you what that means later."
Langa felt their face. Their cheeks seemed more squishy as their fingers pressed into them. They felt their lips and noticed the curl. They were grinning.
"I like my friends, Dad. I'm glad I went to Japan with Mom. And I like my boyfriend. I like my school. I like skateboarding. I like who I am," the blue haired picked up their school bag from off the ground, gently shaking off some of the grass that stuck to the fabric. They began to swing it over their shoulder. "I'm not ready to tell you what I've discovered about myself. Don't worry though,
I'll tell you soon."
