Twigs and small pieces of branches snap beneath my foot as I open the small wooden gate, leaving a cracking sound to my arrival. I sneak in and slowly close the door behind my back. The place is dim and quiet. The only source of light is from the moon's reflection on the wide windows and it seems to stare at me making fun of the situation I'm stuck in.

Juggling the keys trying not to make any noise, I insert it and slowly twist the doorknob which opens and reveals a dark hallway. I turn left to reach the handrail of the staircase at the end of the place in a slight hurry. It's well known that when you're specifically trying to do something in hopes that no one would notice, the opposite always seems to happen. The stillness is disturbed when I hear footsteps from above the staircase. A tall silhouette standing vertically above me. The dark is preventing me from seeing his face but I know exactly who it is.

My body tenses a bit at the moment, I remove my hand from the railing and standstill. The body starts to take steps down the staircase as I get the idea of who it is. "It's ten past eight." A deep low-pitched voice comes from the man in the dark standing. I don't reply, which makes him take two more steps further to me. Who else could create such a dominating and intimidating presence? Who else had to say only one sentence to create fear inside a person's whole body? Who else could make a spark burst into flames with one look full of hatred?

"Where were you?" he queries, walking down on his final steps in front of me. The light coming from the windows, scattered near the few elevated steps of the staircase makes his face visible. His hazel eyes coming into view. As he takes more steps forward, the moon's shimmering pour of illumination completely takes over him, making his full body appear. His honey-blonde-coloured hair is hanging roughly on his forehead and a few shadows on his face are enhancing his features along with his slight rugged beard. A man in his fifties with a height of 5 '10, good looking for his age but alas the blessing that the moon was sending upon him couldn't lighten his heart.

"Work" I state in one word hoping he will leave me so I can go to bed. I'm not even like an hour later or something, it's only five minutes! Well, in another dimension he would leave me alone but not in this one. He looks tired and annoyed at the same time and so do I but I don't feel the need to fight right now or else the whole house will be awake.

"You don't have any work" he replies through gritted teeth, anger building up in him.

Huffing silently, "I'm tired," I say moving to his left to go past him but he grasps my hand tightly that was reaching for the railing. His body blocked my entrance and kept a fair distance from mine.

"This is not some check-in hotel you live in, you get late, you explain!" His tone immediately changes as he speaks

The voices of people shouting and screaming on the carnival rides, blasting music and laughter invades my ears although extremely low in volume, being so far from the night activity, almost like a radio kept beside with the volume on two.

My head is tilted to my left before I look at him in irritation, taking my other hand and holding his wrist to unlatch his grip from mine. "Don't worry I'm not staying much longer here, and if you want the whole "home" to be safe then it's better if I get ready for my shift."

He furrows his brows slightly at my statement, I take that chance to rush past him and start taking the steps upward. I climb my way but his voice stops me, "So now you a big kid eh? Coming home late and everything." he says from behind me, his face close to red, changing from his usually pale skin. "You've started to disobey me a lot of Styles, don't think your behavior is not going to have consequences." A smug look creeps on the corner of his mouth and his eyes look like Satan's- pure evil dripping on his face.
