Junhui washed two bowls and forks and set them on the bench, in front of Minghao who was scrolling through his phone. He mindlessly stuffed kitchen utensils into his suitcase since he was in a rush to pack. Even though they were heavy and made his morning much harder, they came in handy.
He poured the ramen into the two bowls from the pot as Minghao went to the sink to wash his hands. After pouring it in, Junhui went to wash his hands and sat himself down next to Minghao.
Junhui tried eating some but once the hot noodles hit his tongue he realised he needed to wait a bit. Minghao saw this and giggled a bit, he covered his mouth with his mouth so Junhui wouldn't notice but the sound didn't fail to come out. Junhui laughed a long with him, feeling satisfaction that he made Minghao happy. Junhui found Minghao's giggle mesmerising, it was like Seventeen songs to his ears. He felt so many different emotions while hearing the sound but one particularly stood out. The reason it did was because he'd felt like he felt it before...
like nostalgia.
The familiarity made the feeling so much better. But there was one question which lingered in Junhui's thoughts through all the enjoyment. Why was this so familiar?
They both laughed together for a whole 5 minutes but for both of them it only felt like seconds. Time flies by when you're happy and stops when you're sad, isn't that just so unfair?
Afterwards Minghao went for the ramen and had a taste, it was perfect. It brought back memories of the times when Junhui used to bake him and Yanan cupcakes. The fluffy golden brown cake, elegantly topped with creamy vanilla icing and a cherry to finish it off. Simple so it didn't feel artificial, you could taste the love in his cupcakes. Eventually he'd realised he'd spaced out because Junhui was calling his name multiple times.
Out of embarrassment, Minghao blurted out "This Ramen is delicious, where did you get the recipe?"
"Oh well I got it from this guy's food blog, I heard that he could cook 15 servings of ramen at once so I checked out his blog and learnt the recipe." Junhui replied.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You know my brother can cook 15 servings of Ramen at once? He is notorious for his cooking skills, he even has a food blog and all the cooking fanatics have heard the name Kim Mingyu. He cooks better than you ever could and since my brother and I have the same blood, I have cooking skills. You have no chance of winning this cooking competition so good luck." Kim Min (Mingyu's sister) joked in a competitive tone.
"Pfft you're just using your brothers skills to make you look good which proves you don't have your own." Minghao savagely replied but in a serious tone as if it was the truth and not a . If someone else said something like that it'd be a joke but since it was Xu Minghao it was the truth.
They were both in Kim Min's house. Kim Min aka Minghao's new best friend in Kim Min's opinion. He was forced to help the new transfer student get to know the school and the area by his homeroom teacher who thought he was lonely due to losing Junhui and Yanan moving away, (which he was but didn't admit it) so she decided to help him make new friends. According to Minghao, Kim Min is an overly clingy towards him and likes him too much, way more than he's comfortable with. But hey it's a way to try and get over what happened a month ago.
"You are actually such a loser Kim Min. A loser with confidence and a big mouth which makes you seem like a winner." Minghao continued in a serious tone.
Kim Min was pretty taken aback by Minghao's reply, he didn't expect him to be so serious about this. She only said it jokingly. He'd done this kind of thing before but not to this extent. She brushed it off, it was just part of his personality anyway.
