CHAPTER 1

Ivy Walker, was a chemist living a little north in Winslow, a small place, peaceful and calm, a place where people still greeted each other when they passed each other on the streets, everyone almost knew everyone

Ivy Walker was just like any other girl, she was beautiful, she was hardworking and ambitious, smart, and above all, she had that one thing a girl cherishes always, a best friend that has been with her forever, and that person was Lily Evans.

Ivy had to be one of the most complex people one could ever meet, her body and brain are two. For example, most peoples personality and body language are usually in sync with each other, but hers -in a way- wasn't. For example, she could be helping little girls at the orphanage but her brain could be planning your murder for all you could know and the best part, you would never suspect a thing. Nobody really tell what was going on in Ivy's read her mind, maybe Lily could, who knows...

Almost the whole town knew Ivy and her family. If not her whole family, most people who have been living in Winslow long enough knew her mum. Mostly because of what her mother did. She was kind. Too kind for the humans of now.  But according to her, there was nothing like being too kind. To her kindness wasn't something that can be considered as too much or too less

Lily was her sister Ivy never had.  They were neighbours all the way through elementary school. Then Lily moved 4 houses down, but that was never an issue. Lily was Ivy's everything and Ivy was Lily's everything.

Ivy's mother was reported dead in a car accident when she was in middle school now 23 years later she doesn't remember a lot of her mum as much as she would like to, just some random flickers and glimmers of memories of her here and there in her mind that flashes over sometimes. So Lily's mother was like her own mother to Ivy, and Jessica, Lily's mother, loved her like one.

Ivy and her best friend Lily could be the epitome of best friends in all of history.  They rarely fought. Even if they did, it was always a big one, like the time Lily and James got together. Ivy never liked James. There was something about him that Ivy despised. Maybe it was his eyes, they looked like they never held life in them, maybe they never did. James had this impertinent towards everything, this distrustful aura that always lingered around him. But one can't just say that around him. The underlying vanity in him could be seen by anyone even though how hard he tries to dismiss it.  Ivy couldn't stand him, to be honest, he was like one of those people who seemed they were never satisfied with anything. It was like he could have the whole world and he'd still want more.

But Lily never thought anything like that, she saw him as a king, like the joker to her Harley Quinn, the sun to her moon and what all romantic things you can possibly imagine two lovers saying to each other. I mean they do say love is blind

For Lily, the day she got married was the best day of her life. Everything was perfect. She even convinced Ivy to wear high heels. But for Ivy, it was not the best day of her life. Her boyfriend at that time, some Colin, dumped saying she was too workaholic. It was true though, Ivy spend a lot of her time with her job. It was her passion. You can't blame a woman for doing something she loves so much.

But she would stop the world for Lily, she cared that much for her. So did Lily for Ivy, but after James's arrival the time spent with Ivy slowly came down. But Ivy didn't mind. She understood that Lily needed to spend time with her husband. That's how it always was. The girls understood each other when no one ever did. They had what one could call an inner bond with each other. They knew each other so well, that sometimes they won't even have to talk to understand. Yup that cliche

When Ivy's dad died only Lily was there to support her through her grief. Ivy's stepmother never cared much about her, but she wasn't a total bitch either, she just couldn't give a damn about a 12-year-old. She was just there was her fathers' wealth, not that he had much, but she took whatever she found. She was a cliche gold digger. But Ivy's father was too oblivious to see that. Just like Lily. As they say, love is blind, more like love makes you blind
