5 minutes.

Alex groaned as he put his head down on his desk, history was his least favourite subject. At least it was a Friday and he had planned to go stargazing with Lilly later that day. Lilly was his best friend he'd known since Elementary School, they had stuck together like glue ever since they met.

The bell rang as everyone packed their bags and left the classroom.

"Don't forget you have your assignments due on Monday! Have a good weekend!" The teacher called out. Alex didn't totally despise his history teacher, she was nice most of the time, but just the sheer amount of homework they got was way too much for him to handle, it was mentally draining.

"Hey Alex!" Alex turned around to see Lilly walking towards him.

"Hey, ready to go stargazing?" Alex said.

"Mhm! Where are we going again?" Lilly asked.

"Up that mountain over by the library. I heard there's a nice spot up there." Alex replied.

"Alrighty then. I brought flashlights just in case, y'know?" Lilly said.

"You always think of everything, huh?" Alex said, half-jokingly.

"Yep, now let's go!" Lilly replied.

After what seemed like no time at all, they reached the base of the mountain.

"Okay, this is where we go up. There should be a nice path already made for us." Alex informed.

"How do you know this?" Lilly asked.

"Uhhhhh, anyways, let's uh... start walking!" Alex said awkwardly, completely avoiding the question.

"Oh kay...?" Lilly said quietly.

They started to climb up the mountain. It was a nice day today, birds were singing, flowers were blooming... perfect weather for stargazing.

"Hey, uh, what's that over there?" Lilly asked.

"Oh, it looks like a cave of some sort?" Alex replied.

"I wonder what's in it." Lilly said.

"Only one way to find out, right?" Alex said.

"I guess so." Lilly said.

The duo walked inside the oddly suspicious cave. Inside the cave, right in the center, was a massive gaping hole that seemed to go very deep.

"Was this always here...?" Alex questioned.

"Careful, this is really dangerous." Lilly said back.

"Uhmmm, this place is really unsettling. Let's get out, alright?" Alex said uncomfortably.

"Wait, WATCH OUT!" Lilly suddenly yelled.

"Wha-" Alex screamed. The roots beneath his feet gave way and sent him tumbling down into the hole. The last thing he saw was Lilly's horrified expression as everything went black.

"...Alex? Can you hear me...?" Lilly stood there in shock. There's absolutely no way that just happened. Her childhood best friend, now in an unknown condition at the bottom of an unknowingly deep hole. She preferred not to think about it.

Lilly considered her options, there were a number of things she could do, although one of them stood out more than the others. She smiled.

"See you soon, Alex."

Lilly jumped.
