CHAPTER 2

It's Friday, and I'm so tired. I stayed up last night working. I can't wait to go home.

I'm in my cabin, working of course, when Raven opens the door.

"Hey, Mr. Ross wants everyone in the conference room right now," she says.

"Why?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"I don't know. And are you okay? You look tired" Raven asks.

"I am. I stayed up last night working" I say, rubbing my eyes.

"Well, I got you a cup of coffee to wake you up a bit. Do you care about your health?" she asks, handing me the coffee.

I take the coffee from her hands and thank her.

"Yes, I do, but it's best that I finish the work I started," I say, getting up from my chair with my coffee in hand.

We leave my cabin and head to the conference room.

I'm curious about the reason we're all gathering.

We make our way to the elevator and spot Lauren.

"Hey, Lauren" Raven says.

"Hey, guys. Do you know why we need to go to the conference room?" Lauren asks.

"I don't know" I reply.

We enter the elevator, and the doors close. As we make our way to the conference room, we chat for a moment.

When the elevator doors open, we walk toward the conference room. It's only the people from our department, which surprises me. I thought everyone in the building was going to be there.

"I heard the CEO is going to be at the meeting today" Jack whispers to us.

"Oh, I can't wait to see him" Raven says.

"Same. He's so handsome" Lauren says, smiling.

"He definitely is" Raven responds.

I just look at them and roll my eyes.

Please don't get me wrong I don't see what women see in guys like him. Seriously. I mean, he's rich, has a big house, and owns expensive cars.

We all take our seats. The conference room door opens, revealing a tall man wearing an expensive suit really expensive. It's Kaiden Walker, the CEO of the company. He's with another man who looks a lot like him. When he enters, every woman in the room starts whispering.

"Let's start" Mr. Walker says.

"His voice is so deep" Lauren whispers.

Oh, please.

"Hello, everyone. The reason I had your boss gather you all here is because my brother and I are going to work together on a project for the company" he says.

"I can't wait!" Raven says, smiling.

"Yes, we're going to work together. Here's how it's going to work: Mr. Ross will choose seven to ten people from the finance department, and my company will choose the same amount from the Human Resources department," Mr. Walker's brother says.

"Mr. Ross will choose who he thinks is best suited for the project, and when you're chosen, we'll tell you what you'll need to do," Mr. Walker adds.

"Do you have any questions?" he asks, placing his hands in his suit pants while scanning the room.

"I have a question" Jack says.

"Yes?" Mr. Walker responds.

"Do we need to leave our workplace to work somewhere else? I just wanted to know" Jack asks.
