"I'm not going out, seriously."
"Why?" she whines, as we're sat in the kitchen, me on the counter, her on the stool facing me.
"I'm still hungover from yesterday, and I have school tomorrow. I'm just gonna catch an early night."
"Ok, fair enough."
"Have fun and call me if you need me." I hop off the counter and kiss her cheek.
"I will. Thanks Paige." She smiles and goes upstairs to get ready.
I'm making myself some pasta, when Roman walks in, dumping his football bag and helmet in the hall.
"What are you making?"
"You stink," I say, pinching my nose. Maybe I'm slightly exaggerating, but he is all sweaty and gross.
He comes closer, just to annoy me.
"Don't come any closer, seriously."
He takes another step.
"Do us all a favor and go upstairs and have a shower."
He leans against the counter beside me.
"What are you making?"
"Pasta."
"Can I have some?"
I sigh, "You can have some after you shower, yes."
He sends me a smile that shoots butterflies to my stomach and then pushes off the counter, heading to the bathroom.
When he's gone I breathe out a sigh of relief.
I remove the water from the pan only to realise open the cupboards and realise that they don't have any sauce.
Probably because Roman seems to eat enough for a family of 5, they always seem to be running out of food.
He walks out of the bathroom, in a t-shirt and grey sweatpants, his hair still dripping wet.
"Paige?"
"Uh yeah sorry," he catches me looking at him. How embarrassing. "We don't have any sauce."
"That's ok." He shrugs and starts to move towards the kitchen
I don't move.
"You don't want to eat it without sauce, do you?"
I shake my head.
"C'mon, let's go." He grabs his car keys.
We walk down the drive in silence and I climb into his sleek black car. I don't know much, or anything, even, about cars, but I know that this is a hella nice car.
We're driving down the road when I break the awkward silence.
"So, do you get on with your parents?"
He dosent respond. He doesn't even look at me. Sensitive subject, okay.
I try again, with something different this time. "Why do you hate Sam so much?"
He shrugs. At least he didn't completely ignore me this time.
"Why?" I push.
He sighs, "I don't like how he treats people. Women, in particular. Like they're disposable."
I scoff in disbelief. Hypocrite. "What, and you don't do that?"
He shakes his head, "No, I don't."
"I don't believe that for a second."
"I don't! I swear. I've never been in a relationship, but everyone I've ever hooked up with knew that before. I don't break anyone's heart, the way Sam does." He defends himself.
