Your neighbourhood was lined with charming houses on both sides, most of them adorned with well tended flower beds in their yard, over flowing with vibrant blooms.

The streets were quiet, save for the chirping of birds and cicadas, buzzing sound of the bees, mixed along with the distant laughter of children playing in the yards.

As you walked, Todoroki took in his surroundings with a thoughtful expression, before hesitantly asking questions about his grandmother's well being, and you answered each question without hesitation. And at the same time, his enquiries gave you some insight into their relationship.

After taking two right turns and one left from the bus stop, you stopped infront of a two-story traditional Japanese house. A small gate marked the entrance, while tall shrubs acted as a natural wall around the property.

To the side of the yard, a small garden of sunflowers swayed gently in the breeze.

"Is this my grandmas place?" Todoroki asked, noticing that you had stopped walking.

"Yes" you replied with a slight nod, looking at him.

With a solemn expression, todoroki muttered, "Oh"

His eyes were now fully focused at the house infront of him. Noticing his gaze you poked him softly in the shoulder, signalling him to follow you. You then opened the gate, walked up to the front door, and rang the doorbell.

"Come here" you said, gently pulling todoroki forward and placing him infront of the door, ensuring he would be the first person his grandmother saw when she opened it.

Just then, the door flung open and, there they stood, face to face. Both stared at one another, momentarily frozen, unsure of what to say or do.

"Shoto" his grandmother gasped, placing her hands over her mouth, breaking the silence between them.

"It's been....long grandma" todoroki replied, his voice low but gentle.

"Yes shoto, it has been far too long" she said, engulfing him in hug. Breaking their short hug, Granny shifter her gaze toward where you were standing,"y/n! Thank you very much for picking him up"

"You're welcome"you replied back, beaming at her with a warm smile.

"I'll get going now, got to help out dad at his store"

"Well then, see you soon y/n" she said with a grin.

"Same to you Granny"

The two of you waved small goodbye at each other before she grabbed todorokis luggage and headed back inside.

Just before he went inside, you quickly spoke up, "If you need anything else, feel free to reach out to me anytime. I live close by" you added, pointing to your house which across the street.

"Thank you l/n" todoroki responded with a small nod.

With that, you closed the gate behind you, casting one last glance at the house before making your way home.

Meanwhile, todoroki stepped inside his grandmother's house, disappearing as he gently shut the door behind him, leaving the yard quiet once more.

Upon entering the house, todoroki heard his grandmother call out."I'm up here".

Following her voice, he made his way upstairs. He soon reached a room with the door left open, a warm light spilling out into the hallway, inviting him inside.

"This is where you'll be sleeping" his grandmother informed him, glancing at todoroki who stood beside the door. "I'm happy that you could make it this time, freshen up...and, what you want to have for dinner?"

"Cold soba" shouto replied.

His grandmother gave a simple nod before turning and heading downstairs to the kitchen to prepare it.

The sun was setting, colouring the sky with it's red and orange hue. Serving as a natural indicator for dinner time. Shouto proceeded downstairs, heading towards the kitchen as he took his place at the dinner table.

He observed that the plates were already set on the table, waiting only for the noodles to be served. His grandmother then carefully placed the cold soba and dipping sauce in front of them before taking a seat across from him.

"Thank you for the food" they said in unison before picking up their chopsticks and beginning to eat

However, the room was filled with an awkward silence.

"Shouto how are things at home now?" his grandmother asked, attempting to start a conversation and hopefully break the ice.

"Dad's asking for forgiveness. Fuyumi and mom seems to be ready to forgive him. But, Natsuo does not agree, he still holds a grudge against dad for what he did, especially to... Touya" he replied solemnly, slurping his noodles.

"Is that so?— who knew'd that getting a scar on his face would make him repent and change. I would have given him one myself if I had known sooner" she stated chuckling a little, rather remorsefully, at the end.

"Touya, he did not deserve any of that, and— neither did you shoto. . . I'm very sorry— I'm sorry I left you, if only I had stood up to him back then,—then maybe things would have been a bit different"

unable to hold back her tears, she finally broke down, silent tears dripping.

Shoto stood up from his seat and walked over to his grandmother, started gently patting her back in comfort.

"It's not your fault, grandma" he said softly. But, hearing him say those words, only made it harder for her to hold back her tears.

"I'm here with you now" shoto reassured her before wrapping his arms around her in a tender embrace.

"well, so am i" she said in between her sobs, hugging him back.

"Let's have our dinner now— before it—it gets any colder" she mumbled in between her sobs as they gradually let go of each other from the hug.

"I'll do my best to make you spent a memorable summer here" she reassured him, after calming down from all the crying.

"I will be looking forward to that" he replied back.

After a moment, they resumed their meal, picking up from where they had left off. The rest of dinner was lighthearted, filled with his grandmother's eager questions about his life, to which Todoroki answered patiently.

Once they had finished, he helped her clean up before heading straight to his room. The day's journey and lingering summer heat weighed on him, and the moment he stepped inside, he sank onto his futon.

The cool fabric was a welcome relief against his skin and as exhaustion gradually overtook him, and before he knew it, he was slowly drifting off to sleep.
