George's pov

I wake up in an unfamiliar place, but Dream's arms wrapped around me makes me feel safe. His head is nuzzled against my neck and I can feel his hot breath against my skin. We're still sat in the tree, we must've fallen asleep. Although we're scarily high up, the tree is stable and the risk of falling is low. Images from last night float around my head and I can't stop myself from smiling.

I don't know what I'm getting myself into, I hardly know this boy. Shit, I've only known him for a few hours.

So why do I feel so at home around him? I feel like I could stay here forever and nothing bad will happen to me, because he's here.

I feel his head move from it's position on my neck and giggle as his soft dirty-blonde hair tickles my cheek. His eyes slowly start to open when I look up at him and as soon as he sees me a smile forms on his face.

"Hey Georgie." He croaks, sending butterflies swarming in my stomach. His voice is raspy from just waking up and his hair is a mess, but it's more of a perfect mess.

"Goodmorning, Dream, how'd you sleep?" I reply.

"Better than ever." he says, taking my hand in his and pulling me closer towards him.

"George?" He speaks quietly, just loud enough for me to hear.

"Yeah?"

"What happened yesterday?"

"What do you mean? You know what happened yesterday, I sat up here with you, we kissed, and then we fell asleep." I say giggling.

"No, well yes I know that," He laughs with me, a grin forming on his face, "I mean before that, when you were sat against the tree crying."

"Oh nothing really." I lie. I don't mean to lie to him, but I don't want to put all my problems on him. The images of yesterday return to my head, he'd made me forget about them, but now all I can see is my pale, tear stained face.

"Oh come on George, you don't just randomly turn up in a forest crying for no reason." He says softly.

I turn my face away, embarrassed.

"I-it's just.., it's gonna sound crazy." I say, tears threatening to spill.

Dream runs a hand through my hair and cups my jaw, turning my face so that I'm looking right into his eyes.

"Hey, It's ok, I'm listening." Dream speaks gently.

I don't know why I am doing this. I've never told anyone else, but this boy, I just immediately trust him with my life. So I don't stop myself from speaking when I start to explain.

"Have you ever felt so lonely that you feel like you have nothing to live for? Like the only thing keeping you alive is fear. I mean I was always terrified to experience the pain of death, but sometimes the pain of living seems worse. Because-."

" maybe death seems to hurt a little less than life." He says, his voice nothing more than a whisper.

"You understand." I whisper, a smile forming on my face, almost like I knew he would.

"Wow Georgie, I never knew someone could explain the feeling so..so..right?" He says, making me giggle at the nickname.

I couldn't explain how I felt in that moment, to have someone understand what you're going through, it felt like the weight of the world had been lifted off of my shoulders.

"I just felt so alone, like I was the only person in the world and I couldn't handle it anymore. So I came to the one place that calms me down, and then I met you." I say, grinning up into his green eyes.

"So how come I've never seen you before? I mean, I come here all the time and I'm sure I would've noticed you" He says, tucking the hair out of my face.

"I'm not sure, mystery boy, maybe it's because you sit up here where no one can see you." I speak, a smug look replacing my grin.

"Oh I'm the mystery boy?" Dream laughs rolling his eyes, "I know literally nothing about you."

"Ok well why don't I tell you about myself? And then you can tell me about you." I ask, slightly nudging him on the shoulder.

"Sounds great." Dream speaks, giving me that soft smile that I could look at for hours.

"Ok, well I'm 24, I used to live in the UK but I moved here to New York after my home life got tricky. Oh, I work in a local bookshop, I actually own it. I've wanted to own one ever since I was little because I love to read."

"I like your accent." Dream says and I can feel my cheeks start to redden.

"Thankyou, I like yours too. So, what about you mystery boy?" I reply.

"Well what do you want to know?" He speaks, smirking.

"Anything, I wanna listen about your life, Dream."

"Um..I'm 22 and I grew up in Florida but moved here after college finished. I play the guitar, I used to be in a band but now I'm trying to write my own music."

We went on for hours, telling each other funny stories about our lives and everything there was to know about one another. After a while we both went silent, by this time we had gotten down from the tree and were sat in the grass. I was lead against the tree, like I was just yesterday with dream laying his head on my lap. Dreams dirty blonde hair felt soft in my hands as I gently played with it, the sun had set and it was beginning to get dark again.

"George, I wanna show you something." Dream says, breaking the comfortable silence that surrounded us. He stands up, holding his hand out ready for me to take.

I take his hand and follow him along the small path leading through the trees.

"Where are we going?" I ask, giggling as he pulls me along by his side.

"It's a secret." He says smirking, earning an eyeroll from me.

We walk for a while, It's pitch black by now but Dream still seems to know where he's going, like he has gone there a thousand times before. Well, maybe he has.

I let him drag me along while he asks me random little questions, keeping me smiling throughout.

I can hear the sound of running water in the distance and I'm sure we must be by some sort of river, but I keep on following Dream.

Dream grins and starts running, still keeping hold of my hand, pulling me along as we both run slightly uphill.

Nothing can explain the amount of adrenaline I was feeling in this moment. I felt on top of the world, with the wind delicately blowing my hair in all directions.

Dream starts to eventually slow down.

"Close your eyes." He says, breaking the grip on my hand and replacing it gently over my eyes.

"Wha-" I start to refuse.

"Just trust me George, I've got you, I promise." He tells me, and I can hear his smile through his voice.

He uses his free hand to grab my waist and softly guides me up through the path he seems to be taking.

"Open your eyes."
