Chapter 2: Charlotte 18 months previously

Song: I Know You by Skylar Grey

"I know you are excited, but let me get it!" Cohen warns and I put my hands up.  Cohen quickly gets out to of the car and hustles around to open my door for me.  It has been 8 years, and he still always opens the door for me. He says it is because "his daddy taught him to be a gentleman." There are many areas I wish Cohen knew how to be a gentleman, but I'll take what I can get, and he has been faithful in this one.

"I love you" I confess as I take his hand and get out of the car.

"I love you" Cohen returns and pulls me in for a deep kiss. "Do you think the Bugatti will be ok here for the week?" Cohen asks gingerly looking over his prized new baby. I laugh trying to hide my annoyance.

"Hmmm" I let out pensively. "Do I think your CAR will be ok in the Apperton company private hangar, where only Jeffrey and his crew have access.  I don't know? I mean we have never had a break in, but then again we have never hosted your newest toy in our inventory, so........" I shrug, sarcasm dripping from my voice. "Cohen, I love how excited you are about your new ride, but babe......we were having a moment.  I need you to switch focus please, I need this time away with you, and I need it to be about us.  No work, no drama, no excuses.  You promised."

"You are so cute when you are jealous." Cohen says with a roll of his eyes, and I cross my arms in irritation, and watch as he struggles to get the luggage out of the two-door sports car without dinging anything.

"Well, lately you have ridden in your car, more that you have ridden in me." I pout as he extends the handle of my suitcase for me.

"You won't be able to say that at the end of this trip." Cohen says with a casual laugh, taking my free hand and leading me toward the jet.

"Good morning, Charlotte, Cohen" Jeffrey greets us at the stairs.  Mia is standing proud beside him, and I go in to hug her first, then Jeffrey.

"Goodmorning" I chirp back. Cohen extends his hand and gives them both a curt handshake.

Jeffrey has been my company pilot for as long as I can remember, and Mia, Jeffery's daughter has just gotten her pilot's license to co-pilot with her dad.  I watch as Todd pops his head out the doorway upon hearing our names. Todd is new to the crew. He has only been with Jeffrey for about a year, and is, by far, my favorite flight attendant.

"Go ahead and just leave those right down there." Todd hollers at us referring to our luggage. "I will get them loaded once you are on board.  We are wheels up in 20 minutes." Todd informs us and motions for us to come up.  Walking into the "lounge" I see that Todd has gone overboard with a beautiful brunch spread, a chilled bottle of Champagne.

"Todd, this is amazing! I told you not to go overboard." I say giving him a hug.  "Girl, this is not overboard in the slightest.  You should have seen what I pulled off for you Dad last and the investors when they went to look at property in Belize last month."

"Thank you" I say, and Todd nods and turns on his heels.

"Doesn't this look so good" I gush to Cohen, and he nods but doesn't take his eyes off me to look over at the spread.  I smirk, knowing that look very well.  "Are you hungry" I ask him innocently, slowing taking a step away from him, and then another.

"Starving" Cohen says on a pounce, and I squeal and try to run out of his grasp.  Cohen throws an arm out and catches me around my waist. "Oh no you don't" he says drawing my back up against the front of him.

"Cohen" I laugh out and he nuzzles my neck.

"How upset would Todd be, if we skipped brunch?" Cohen asks, nipping at my neck.
