A New Beginning
Kaminari yawned as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
Jiro was cuddled into him, holding him firmly as she slept soundly.
Kaminari reached over and gently brushed some loose strands of hair out of her face as he recalled what had happened. She was actually carrying their baby.
Yesterday had been so stressful for Jiro, and Kaminari was grateful that she was still sleeping.
Kaminari frowned slightly as he ran his hand through Jiro's hair and rubbed her back.
He'd never seen her as vulnerable as she was last night, and he wanted to comfort her as much as he possibly could.
He continued to play with her hair for a few minutes before a thought came into his head.
He carefully started to release himself from Jiro's hold, the sleeping purplette whining in protest at the warmth being taken away.
Once free, Kaminari slipped off the bed and left Jiro's room.
He headed back down the hall towards the kitchen.
The sun had only partially risen, and although far from its zenith, a few streaks of golden light passed through the windows.
Kaminari looked through the drawers and cupboards to find where the cutlery and delf were kept, setting the table once he'd found them.
Afterwards, he decided to head back upstairs to Jiro, not wanting her to wake up without him there.
Slipping back into bed, Jiro naturally cuddled up to him again, and he pulled her close and held her tightly.
He sighed contently as he lay there, waiting for Jiro to wake up.
A few hours later, Jiro woke up herself. As her eyes slowly opened she was met with Kaminari smiling at her.
"Good morning." Kaminari said softly, rubbing his hand up and down her back.
"Mmm?" Jiro mumbled, burying her still sleepy head in Kaminari's chest.
Kaminari ran his fingers through her hair and kissed the top of her head.
"I know it's not morning yet but it is now." Kaminari said, stroking her back.
Jiro lifted her head and sat up, rubbing at her eyes.
She looked over at the clock next to the bed.
"Can I go down and grab some breakfast or do you want me to stay here?" Kaminari asked.
"I'm fine. You go get some breakfast. I'll be down in a few minutes, I'm still a little tired." Jiro told him.
Kaminari nodded and kissed her lightly on the forehead before heading downstairs.
When Kaminari entered the kitchen Mika was already there preparing miso soup.
"Oh, good morning Kaminari!" Mika said brightly, turning around to face Kaminari.
"Morning." Kaminari replied. "Is Kyoka awake yet?" Mika asked, taking four bowls out of one of the cupboards.
"She's still sleepy, she said she'll be down in a few minutes." Kaminari said.
Mika hummed in acknowledgement and poured the soup into the bowls and placed them on the table.
"Thanks for setting the table." She added. "It's good of you to help out."
"It's no problem." Kaminari replied. "I just want you both to know I'm gonna be there for Kyo whenever she needs me."
A slight smile formed on Mika's lips.
