Chapter 12: Briefing

Issei sat above the sky, peering down at the Peerages battling with the Hydra below, a bluenette woman sitting beside him.

"Can't believe you used a Hydra as an entrance exam!" She bellowed, cackling.

"I know what I'm doing. This is no different from how I learned when I was their age." Issei responded.

'No wonder he was able to beat me... to him, a regular workout is a life and death affair.' Tiamat thought to herself with a grin. "So, let me get this straight, we're going to be training them. And you want us to make it hard enough that we could kill them, but hold back enough that they have a chance?" Tiamat questioned.

"That's right." Issei confirmed with a nod of his head. "Well, it looks like they've won. Let's go down and bring them up to speed." Issei said as he stood up, and both he and his familiar disappeared in a burst of sparks. And they materialized in the world beneath them in a flash of crimson lightning.

Everyone was startled as Issei appeared in front of them, his eyes as hard and focused as when they last saw him. 

"Hyoudou, what's going on? What is this place?" Sona questioned with narrowed eyes.

"Congratulations, you passed the Entrance Exam." Issei entirely ignored Sona. "The fact you survived means you are worth our time." Issei said, his voice easily carrying and reaching everyone's ears.

'That was the Entrance Exam?' Was everyone's collective thought as they sweatdropped.

"You will each be assigned to an instructor, who will be the one responsible for training you during your stay. You will receive two meals a day, one immediately after waking up and another just before bed. You are permitted a four hour rest period each day, which may be used to bathe, sleep, or otherwise relax. The rest of the day will be grueling and nonstop training, and your continued existence is not guaranteed. Your minds, bodies, and spirits will be pushed to their limit, and you will be forced to operate far beyond it if you want to live." Issei announced, looking at no one in particular as he stood straight.

"Without further ado, let us begin!" Swiftly running the necessary calculations in his head, Issei cast a spell into a higher dimension. His left arm released a pulse of crimson energy that went beyond the Illusory World and signaled to those he'd requested that Class had started.

Lightning crashed down, revealing a Demonic Deity and a wolf of pure lightning. A flurry of snow revealed a fairly large dragon, and from a cyclone of Sakura Petals emerged a girl in a kimono with half black-half white hair and five fox tails. Alongside her was a fairly androgynous woman clad in Japanese-style armor and ceremonial robes, with slitted golden eyes and hair that was a mess of white and black held in a ponytail.

"Gremory-chan, Asia-chan, and Tsubaki-san~! Your three will be my charges!" Issei's sister chirped.

"Sitri, you are to be my pupil." The Dragon rumbled.

"Himejima Akeno. I, Raijin, will be your instructor!" The Thunder God boomed.

"I am Nagao Kagetora, Avatar of Touhachi Bishamonten and Echigo's God of War, and I will be Kiba Yuuto's trainer!" The woman exclaimed.

"I requested the original Bishamonten, but I suppose one of his Avatars will do." Issei said with a deadpan expression.

"Stop it right there!!" Rias exclaimed in a bit of a panic. "Since when was Kenshin a woman and how are they here?! They should be dead!"

"Ahahahaha!! I go wherever Bishamonten dictates!" Kagetora exclaimed, holding a spear in one hand and a katana in another.

"Contracts with a God cannot be absolved without consent, they persist even after death. In effect, she's a familiar acting as a conduit for her master's power." Issei explained. "Nevertheless, Koneko will be with Tiamat and my sister. Saji will be with Tiamat and myself. Tomoe will be with Kagetora, Tsubasa with Tiamat, Momo and Reya with my sister, and Nimura will have the same arrangement as Koneko."

Issei took a deep breath before speaking again, "As I said previously, we make no promises that you will survive. And every now and then, you will all face trials arranged by me. With the explanations finished, let us begin."

Issei's sister clapped her hands and she disappeared with her charges, taking them off to be instructed in a different part of the Forest. Rajin disappeared with Akeno. Kuraokami flew off with Sona, which left only Kagetora and her charges along with Tiamat, Saji, and Issei himself.

"En garde!" Issei bellowed before suddenly appearing in front of Saji and kicking him in the gut, causing him to cough up blood and fly through multiple trees and crash into a nearby hill. Issei scowled as he glared at the so-called Devil. "Pathetic. You're embarrassing yourself, and bringing shame to Vritra and Sitri both. You disgust me, weakling."
