Kojiro POV
“Listen here you stupid gorilla! I know what I’m doing!” Kaoru yelled at me.
“Are you sure, four eyes?” I huffed back leaning against the building.
“Yes, you moronic primate!” He sneered.
“mmhmm” I muttered. I waited. He didn’t say anything.
“What are you going to draw with?” I asked. He was knelt down having just poured some paint into a pan. He froze. I waited a smirk on my face. He bolted up punching me in the chest.
“If you knew I forgot the brush then why…” I stopped him with a quick kiss. The sun was just coming up behind him. It made his pink hair glow. His anger abated immediately. His long arms slipped around my neck as he pressed his thin lips to mine.
“Better?” I asked. He snorted, laying his head on my shoulder.
“I forgot my brush.” He whispered. I reached up snagging the tool from his ponytail.
“Oh, this one?” I asked. He punched me in the shoulder. “Ouch, I think you’re getting stronger.” I complained. He snorted.
“Sometime I seriously think I am crazy to feel like this over a Big FAt IDIOTIC APE!” He raged. I chuckled.
“Love you too, Pinky.” We have been dating for almost three years now. We took a year to travel around a bit after graduating. Neither of us said it, but we went to America for a while. Never ran into Adam. We had been shocked at just how big the place is, in reality.
We returned home six months ago. My mothers loved it when we finally admitted we were a couple. They had laughed telling us they knew it since we had been children. No two people could fight the way we did, remain friends and not have strong feelings towards each other.
I watched as Kaoru painted the sign. Once dried, I would hang it up. He moved along the board, painstakingly making each word perfect in his delicate script. Why he was using such a small brush, I didn’t know. My eye lifted to the sunrise. A breeze blew my hair. I closed my eyes to let it wash over my face.
“Amazing.” I heard the soft voice say. I figured he must have done something he truly liked on the sign. Turning from the morning sun, I glanced at him. Secretly I hoped I could figure it out.
When I saw him kneeling, no sitting on his feet, his golden eyes transfixed on me, I smiled. “What?” I asked him. He huffed, hating it every time I made him tell me his feelings.
“You are, you stupid monkey.” He muttered turning back to the sign, pink dusting his cheeks. I stayed where I was. Folding my arms over my chest I dug my hands into the inner part of my elbow. I wanted nothing more than to go scoop him up.
That would totally freak him out. He didn’t like being manhandled, all the time. But he would be worried that I would hurt his precious sign. I chuckled softly. “Not nearly as amazing as you, my love.” I cooed.
“Don’t talk like that.” He whispered. I smirked.
“Did you run out of primates? I don’t think you used orangutan yet?” I offered. He humphed.
“They are red you, stupid imbecilic baboon!” He smiled at coming up with the name. I laughed. Rolling off of the corner of the building, I moved beside him. He was on the last letter. As I came up behind him, he sat back to study his work. I lifted him easily into my arms.
“What about hyena?” I offered, kissing his nose, forehead, then his soft tender lips. His arms around me once more, he returned my kiss.
“Mm, that does suit you.” He agreed when I released his mouth. Turning he looked down at the sign. The letters were perfect.
“I need to add the olive branches and a wine bottle or three.” He stated wiggling a bit.
“Not just yet, kiss me again.” I demanded.
“Are we thirsty this morning?” He cooed.
“You woke me before dawn and I didn’t get to fuck you yet.” I pointed out.
“Such a vulgar ape.” He tsked.
“You used that one already.” I muttered drawing him closer.
“So, I have.” He kissed me. I snickered. Life with him was never dull. Once more we looked down at the sign together. Sia La Luce—Let there be light.
“You will bring light to so many, Kojiro. You are already, my light.” Kaoru stated, his face coloring.
“And here I was thinking I named it after you.” I teased. He smacked me. “You have a hitting fetish!” I complained. “Don’t make me dump you on the gravel.” He kissed me chuckling. He plays dirty! Of course, I kissed him back. I would do anything to make him feel safe. I carried him to the building.
Pressing his thin frame against it, I leaned into him. His legs wrapped around my waist as his fingers settled in my hair. I cupped his bottom in my hands. This was mine. All of him. I sighed into him. He was my life.
“Well, well, looks like you two know the meaning of the word kiss and make up.” A voice called out. I jumped back. Spinning I shielded Cherry with my body. A man stood beside the sign on the front walk to the door.
“HI, Yes. I’m looking for a Mr. Nanjo?” He said reading from the box he held in his hand. Looking back over my shoulder confirmed Cherry was put back together.
“That’s me.” I walked up to him. He flipped the box around to hold out the longer end to me. I took it from him.
“A word of advice, don’t do that too much around here. Kids like to cut through right there…” He pointed to the cement pavement on the outside of the building’s property. “… to get to the skate ramp. Just so ya know.” He winked before scurrying away on his bike.
“Great a bunch of brats on skates.” I heard Kaoru sigh.
“The skate ramp he is referring to is the one for skateboards.” I corrected him. He froze.
“Kojiro?” He turned to look at me.
“Yeah, yeah!” I waved a hand at him. “I know, none of the kids can know we are dating. Got it.” He had said this a million times. He wanted to keep our S lives separate from our daily lives. I hated the idea. It meant I couldn’t just hold him, kiss him or whatever any time I wanted.
Arms slipped around my waist. “Only Joe and Cherry are single. Kojiro better not be flirting with any guys around here.” He warned in my ear. I chuckled.
“So, the ladies are ok?” I asked.
“For Joe.” He taunted. I sighed.
“You are the hottest princess around, my darling.” I leaned back to feel his kiss on my neck. Then I showed him what was in the package. The business cards he had designed for me.
“They are perfect, love.” I stated.
“Um, excuse me?” We looked up. I felt Kaoru’s head in the middle of my back as he ducked away from the voice. Two young preteen boys stood on the sidewalk. Each held a skateboard that was nearly as tall as they were. The red head was fidgeting with his. While the dark haired boy eyed me.
“Can you tell us how to get to the skate park?” He asked. The red head looked up, sort of, he saw something that caught his attention. He rushed over to the sign.
“Oh, this looks cool. But why did you draw the olives like that? Shouldn’t the pits be more over here.” He pointed with his finger. Looking up at me. Kaoru saw a kindred soul. He moved to the boy. I heard him explain something about Italian wine gardens to him.
Leaving them to their art discussion I turned back to the other boy. “Follow the pavement here, don’t get on the gravel, or you will wreck. It turns about four blocks down, so go slow there. Once it straightens back out, you just got to go over the last hill. Then skate right in.” I told him. He beamed at me.
“Thank you, mister!” He called. He glanced beside him a look of surprise on his face. Turning he caught a glimpse of his friend behind Kaoru.
“Reki, come on, we’re almost there.” He ordered.
“Reki, you are good with your hands.” I heard Kaoru state softly. The red haired Reki immediately got to his feet. He smirked.
“Yeah, I’m always breaking things around the house. Mom told me if I didn’t learn to fix them, I would have to move into the dog house.” He had a huge infectious grin. I smiled back.
“So, you learned. Interesting.” Kaoru stated. Reki gave him a last wave, before dashing over to his friend. As I expected, they weren’t too skilled on the boards they carried.
“Hey, wait a second.” I called out. Rushing to my bag I yanked out a skateboarding magazine. It was one where you could build your own board. It explained all the parts and different designs for the decks. I held it out to Reki.
“This should help you. Once you get better and want to hone your style. You’re going to need a board that fits you.” With huge amber eyes he took the book.
“Thank you sir!” He cried cradling it in his arms as if I had just handed him a small fortune.
“You’re welcome, Reki. Stop by any time.” I waved them off.
“That was sweet.” A voice dripping honey stated beside me. I flinched away. His stupid fan cut across my arm anyway.
“Do you want little freaky kids hanging around here all day!” He bellowed. I snickered.
“Why not?” I asked with a shrug. “You said he had talented hands.” I ran away from the fan while Kaoru chased me. I was laughing while he screamed insults at me. When I dashed inside, he followed.
I caught his arms pinning them to his sides. Standing behind him, I whispered. “Welcome to the rest of your life, Kaoru Sakurayashiki. I love you.” He melted in my arms.
“Love you too, stupid gorilla.” Tilting his head back, he let me kiss him for the first time in my new restaurant.

As we stood cuddling each other there was a knock on the door. Turning I saw a man holding a huge potted flower. Only a tuft of his orange hair could be seen over the top of the plant.
"Delivery for Kojiro Nanjo?" He said.
"Oh, here let me get that." I rushed to take it from him.
"It's heavy!" The man stated.
"Trust me the gorilla can handle it." Kaoru stated. I put the large cherry blossom next to the door. After signing for the delivery, he held out the card.
As I opened it, I felt arms hugging me again. Kaoru read over my shoulder.
"To my future, let's build the best one together, love always Cherry." I smiled at him.
"See, you can be soft." I teased, kissing his nose.
"It's perfect." He smiled.
"Like you."
