"Carla wake up." I said yawning and shaking her small body. She shook her head, slapping away my frailed hands. I waved her off, walking to my cabinet full of clothes. I changed into a pair of dark grey sweatpants, a pink polo and my red beat up converse. I shook my head when the siren rang out its call, to me that siren is like nails on a damn chalk board.
" Iris, go outside and play. You want someone to adopt you don't you?" Mrs. Willson asked sweetly, smacking the whip against her palm. I flinched at the sound of the whip comming in contact with one of the other girls skin. I hate these bitter old women, they treat us terribly.
"Yes i do Mrs. Willson." I replied, walking out as fast as possible so i didn't get whipped.
"So Iris, i think todays my lucky day." Sara stated, nibbling on the piece of bread in her hands. I smiled tugging the beanie tigheter onto my scalp.
"I used to tell myself that everyday Sara. But i gave up, cause truthfully, my lucky day isn't near." I stated to her and her brown eyes closed, not from hurt...but from pain at hearing me say something so true and honest.
"I know. But that couple over thereh as their eyes on you." She said. I followed her finger that was pointed towards a built man and a very pretty woman, each of them holding a baby.
I saw their mouths moving, the man smiled and walked over to Mrs. Willson. They talked, about a minute later the woman pointed towards me and Sara. Sara hopped off the picnic table, moving to stand in front of me.
"I told ya so." Was all she said before waltzing over to the fence, lacing her fingers through it. That cocky bitch doesnt understand her luck is bare minimum here.
I saw Sara march back over, with tears spilling over from her chocolate eyes. She stopped in front of me, putting her hand on my knee.
"It's your lucky day Iris. They want you." Sara whimpered, i felt my mouth hang open in shock. I stared at the family, my eyes tearing up from happiness.
I got off the table, running to the fence. I put my hand out of it and the woman grabbed it smiling at me. The baby boy reached his hand out towards me, i can't arange my emotions right now.
"You're getting out of here honey. We promise." The man whispered to me, while his wife talked to Mrs.Willson. I nodded wiping tears from the corner of my ocean blue eyes.
"Ok Iris, go pack up your things."
I ran to my room, throwing every article of clothing i owned into my duffel bag. I zipped it shut and ran down the hall to the front desk. I saw the small family standing by it, holding the two babies. I walked towards them, putting my bag on the floor before hugging the woman tightly. I felt tears leak down my pale cheeks.
"Thank you so much." I whimpered into her ear, she shh'd me pulling me to her tighter.
"You're welcome honey. Stop crying, you'll smear your mascara." She whispered to me, i nodded pulling away.
"What's your name?" I asked her.
" Clodagh." Clodagh said to me, pushing hair behind my ear. She exmined all of my facial features, she turned to her husband who was trying to stop both babies from crying.
"This is Paul." She pointed to her husband who was smiling towards Clodagh.
"Hey Paul. Thank you so much." I said sweetly. He nodded and gently grabbed the babies hands waving them at me. I smirked, walking towards them. I kissed their foreheads lightly.
"Let's go home." Paul said to Coldagh and she grabbed my bad carrying it out of the car for me.
Thank you Paul and thank you Clodagh.
