Please leave requests!Maya exhaled as she looked out of the window seeing how the storm was getting worse and worse by the second. She and Josh were supposed to meet with Riley and Lucas but unfortunately their two year old daughter, May, had gotten sick so they decided to not go. But just as Maya wanted to leave to avoid the uncomfortable conversation with Josh the storm broke out.
Now, Maya and Josh have definitely been in a rough spot for years. The two had met nearly 12 years ago but nothing had happened. Maya swore off love while Josh practically had sex with every second girl he could lay his hands on. For Maya it wasn't that important. She was a Godmother and that was enough. But lately she knew what it actually meant to be alone and to be with someone.
"It won't get better the more you stare at it," Josh said as Maya turned around.
She saw as Josh walked towards her giving her a cup of hot chocolate as both of them sat down on the couch. The cabin where they were supposed to meet up with the others wasn't bad. It was small, yeah, but Maya never really liked big places. Sipping on her hot chocolate Maya put the cup down as she tried to get signal on her phone yet again but nothing. She had no guarantee that she or Josh would get out of there alive.
"Won't help doing that. The storm.."
"I know," Maya said as she looked at Josh.
Maya exhaled as she picked her cup up sipping further in her hot chocolate as Josh did the same. Josh and Maya were very alike in most ways. Both studied photography, both of them are amazing photographers, both like the same music, the same books and even the same shows but it had happened that they just couldn't get along. Maya had finished her hot chocolate while putting the cup down as Josh dragged his computer closer and put on Gilmore Girls while he and Maya watched it. Hearing a now thunderstorm also approaching Maya exhaled as she heard thunder ducking her head as it went dark.
"Ah!" Maya yelled as Josh looked at her.
Seeing the poor girl frightened he exhaled and put his computer off while digging for his phone under his arm. Putting on the flash he walked around trying to find candles as he saw how Maya had finally come up from where she was ducking.
"It's okay. It's just thunder," Josh said finally finding a set of candles.
"Do you have matches with you?" Josh asked.
"Yeah," Maya said as she dragged her backpack closer and got out some matches handing them to Josh.
Lighting it up he made sure the candles were from a safe distance from them sitting down again as he looked at Maya. He could never imagine that a little thunderstorm could scare her while he knew something big must have happened during one to make Maya feel so scared. Josh grabbed one of the photography magazines beside him as Maya looked at him tears in her eyes while she knew she had to come clean.
"My dad left me during a thunderstorm," Maya said as Josh looked at her.
Hearing the tears in her voice he put the book down while scooting a little closer to her.
"Maya, what's wrong? It can't just be that. You're crying. I've never seen you cry," Josh said as Maya exhaled.
"All the bad things. My father leaving, my mother's death, my father leaving me again and again and again... It all happened during a thunderstorm," Maya said as Josh looked at her.
