After hours of driving they finally stopped at a hotel about an hour outside of Phoenix. They grabbed their meager bags and packed belongings, and Royal and Jasper led Bella up to the room while Alice made preparations at the front desk.

It wasn't as nice a hotel as they would have normally stayed at, but they were pressed for choices along the strip of ongoing desert that was Arizona.

Jasper and Royal were sitting on the sofas in the suite, Jasper clicking form channel to channel absent-mindedly while Royal stared out the window.

Bella was pacing, cellphone in hand apparently waiting on a call from either Edward or her mother. She went from one side of the room to the other, stopping occasionally.

When Alice returned she took her spot next to her mate. She confiscated the remote, halting Jasper's half-hearted channel surfing and decided instead on some fashion runway show that Neither Royal or Jasper would be too interested in.

As his sister tried to make small talk, which Royal gave half-heartedly replies to, his eyes followed the human girl. She smelled anxious, giving her normal scent a sour twinge in the back of his throat.

At some point Alice had gotten up and started expecting the suite, lifting the mattress, checking the sheets, counting the amount of bottled waters that were in the fridge.

Royal watched from his spot on the loveseat. "What are you doing?"

"Just checking to make sure we have everything we need." She hummed, opening drawers.

Royal scoffed. "Why it's not like we use any of it."

Alice paused, giving her brother a pointed look. "We don't, but Bella does."

At the mention of the human, she looked at the two vampires with wide eyes, a redness to her cheeks. "Oh um, you don't have to, I mean we're not going to be here that long so..."

This did little to deter Alice, who walked into the bathroom without acknowledging the human girl's stumbling statement.

"Aha!" Alice emerged, a holding a singular towel. "There aren't enough towels. Human's shower more than we do, Royal."

Before either he or Bella could respond, Alice was already walking towards the door. "I'll go talk to the front desk. Jas, did you make sure we brought in everything?"

Instead of answering. the quiet vampire stood and walked to the beds where the luggage sat and started to rifle through the bags.

Alice gave one more final look to Royal before stepping out, her lips mouthing at a speed undetectable to a human's eyes. "Be nice."

Now it was only Royal, and the pacing girl, who now seemed to be even more nervous as she checked her phone now on average four times a minute.

"Why don't you just sit down? There's no point in driving yourself mad over something completely out of your control." Although Royal meant for the words to be somewhat consoling, it had came out more of bark. Bella paused, looking to him, and back to her phone before sighing and settling across from him.

"Sorry I just..." Her voice trailed off with many emotions.

Royal couldn't stand to look at her. He wasn't very good at being around humans. He didn't have Alice's outgoing nature or his mothers compassion. He was just awkward. "It's fine..."

"I just..." Her eyes were misty. "I just don't want anything to happen to him, or anyone, my mom, Charlie, Carlisle..." She sniffled, staring down at the dark screen of her cell. Royal wished Alice would hurry.
