Steve's POV September 13th, 2012
He glanced at the watch on his wrist and shook his head. Tony and their new teammate were almost thirty minutes late. He expected as much from Stark, but Fury had told him Agent Eriksen was mostly by the book if not a little eccentric. Sighing, Steve looked over to Fury who was sitting at the head of the conference table with an annoyed expression on his face not saying a word. He just sat there and stared at the door.
Steve couldn't stand it anymore.
Standing up he started to pace the length of the room. A few more minutes and he couldn’t keep his mouth shut any longer. "I still don't understand why Stark is part of the team if he's never on time or follows directives." Fury's eye flicked over to Steve with a raised eyebrow at his outburst. At that exact moment Tony walked in."Hey there, Capsicle. Nick." He says, nodding his head with his hand at his brow like he was tipping an invisible hat. Steve glowered in his direction at the annoying nickname. He thought that after the whole Loki situation Tony would warm up to him and be more like Howard. This wasn’t the case. Every chance Stark got he would needle him. Pressing Steve’s buttons trying to start a fight or whatever it was that was his end goal.
"You're late." Steve said, crossing his arms over his chest.
Tony sat down in one of the many empty chairs and leaned back in his chair. Kicking his feet up onto the table and crossing them at the ankles, he looked around the room and noticed they were one person short. Pulling his sunglasses down Tony smirked up at Steve before pushing them back up. "Looks like I'm not the only one."
Steve turned his attention back to Fury. "I thought you said that this Agent Eriksen was a team player. If she followed orders like she should, she'd be here already. Isn't this mission time sensitive? It's irresponsible and reckless of her to be this late."
Fury's face never once changed from his stoic expression at Steve’s second outburst. It was Tony's shocked face and the falsely excited feminine voice behind him that made him aware the newest recruit had arrived. "Holy forking shirt balls, it's Captain America! Be still my fluttering heart."
Quickly turning around Steve saw a tall raven haired woman step through a sparking orangish colored circle. Behind her he could see what looked to be the streets of Brazil. What the hell?! What was she doing there and how the hell was she doing this?
Steve noticed how beautiful she was, but it was her mouth that threw him off. Well, kind of. What had she said? Holy forking shirt balls? What did that even mean? He knew he was standing there like a dope with his mouth hanging open as he stared at her.
Who he assumed was agent Eriksen walked closer as she took in his uniform with a smirk. Sashaying past him she went to sit next to Tony. Copying Stark, she kicked her feet up on the table and laced her hands behind her head as she leaned back in her chair. Steve turned to Fury and pointed to her.
"This is the new recruit who you were dying to have on the team?" He gestures at her very dressed down attire of black joggers, a green band t-shirt and black Nike walking shoes. Her makeup free face was framed by strands of her long black hair that was mostly pulled up in a messy bun at the top of her head.
Before Fury could say anything she pulled her long legs from the table and walked back over to him. "Recruit this, Spangles. I was an agent before you were ever defrosted. Keep your high handed judgements where they belong. Away from me."
Tony perked up as she ripped into Steve. "Ooh, I like her." Steve glares over her head at him, but Tony ignores him to walk over to her with his hand out. "Tony Stark, pleasure to make your acquaintance."
