TW: Mentions of Murder and Death.
Red.
Color of blood, color of fire, color of Mars.
Red.
Color of anger, color of love, color of desire.
Oh but red isn't my favorite color. No way would it ever be. It was my older brothers, and ever since he passed away I've kept anything red to remember his memory.
But for me, blue is my favorite. I feel like it's the color of life. You know how they say blood is blue when it's inside your body. This, the color of life. I mean I know it's not exactly accurate but it's a nice little lie to believe.
Bending down, I carefully brushed the young gentleman's hair out of his face. He grumbled about something he was seeing in his dream. I smiled softly, he was just too cute.
Growing up was hard for myself and my siblings. Unfortunately, we had to see how cheating affected families, how it just broke the other person and the one who did it stomped on those broken pieces making them pierce the floor. The yelling, the silence and the anger being taken out on each of us was enough to create nightmares for kids yet to be born.
But somehow we made it out alive, each of us finding partners and having families of our own. And each of us made a pact, no one cheats and no one stays with a cheater. If they do... well what are siblings for if not to set you straight?
I watched my Adams chest rise and fall rhythmically, his closed eyes gently moving under his eyelids. The way we met was like out of a blockbuster movie.
Girl goes to visit her dead abusive parents grave to give one last "I win" before leaving her small town for the city and ends up bumping into the guy who's there visiting the next grave. One coffee leads to another and then a few months down the line they're married and the next five years is history.
Weird how life turns out.
A small knock on the bedroom door brings me out of my remanising. I get up slowly, never taking my eyes off of Adam. Opening the door with a swift motion, I beckon my siblings to enter.
Each of them gave me a small nod as they walked passed, finally getting to my youngest, she stared into my eyes, and gave my tummy a pat. I think she was trying to tell me this had to be done. For me and my baby.
Closing the door, I thanked the skys above for allowing me to convince Adam to make the master bedroom soundproof. Having your younger sister stay for months while we were trying for a baby really did the trick. Coming from wealth also helps.
I took my place next to Adam as my siblings to their objects ready. A foolproof plan. Right before I gave the signal, I kissed Adam one last time. A peck really. At least that's what I wanted it to be before the wooden bat hit me across the head and I blacked out.
