I fluttered my eyes open. The sun was rising, though there was barely any light. I looked over at the clock.
6:23 a.m.
I fought through the pile of blankets and pillows, then took a breath. Though I stopped due to the weird odor. Although I didn't care all that much, the smell made me scrunch my face a bit. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. Took a shower, brushed my teeth, and put my clothes on.
I walked down the stairs and went to the kitchen. I made myself some toast and went back to my room. I laid my back down on the bed, eating my toast as my eyes felt heavy. 'I think I'm going to take a nap' I thought to myself. I stopped chewing my food, closed my eyes, and went to sleep.
Until...
*KNOCK KNOCK*
"Hm?" I hummed.
An unfamiliar feeling of wonders hit me hard like a sandal, so I walked up to the door.
"Sig, you up?" A familiar male voice said.
"It's Pickle, I uh... wanted to hang out... and..." Pickle stuttered between his words. "It's been a pretty long time, so I wanted to... catch up with you..."
I was hesitant, I wanted to sleep, but I didn't want to bail on him. So I placed my hand on the doorknob, slowly twisted it, then opened and
(Image is still not ready, this is just a placeholder)
He was the same as ever. He still had his puffy dark green hair, and his light chocolate brown skin, along with his green eyes. He's grown a bit, just a few inches. Don't know where his eyepatch went but that doesn't matter.
"Wow, I didn't think you would answer the door!" He said with a surprised look. I just stared at him. " Um... to be quite honest, I didn't think you were going to answer the door, so I don't know... what we'll do" Pickle mumbled.
"So what do you have in mind?" I asked while I was leaning on the doorway. "Hmm... maybe we can just walk around Vidaopolis," Pickle replied. "Just for you to... remember I guess..."
I nodded, 'not a bad idea' I thought.
"Sure," I said to him. "Maybe I can find some cool bugs"
"Alright let's go!" He said, throwing his fists up. He then grabbed my hand, dragging me down the stairs, to the door that led outside. Well outside our apartment. We went in an elevator, went to the final floor. And finally, we were outside.
The sky was a dark blue color, it was a bit windy, and my goodness the sun is burning my eyes. I closed my eyes and looked away.
"Uh, Sig?" Pickle said, noticing me looking away.
"The sun's too bright," I said
"How is the sun hurting your eyes? it's barely rising," He said confusingly. "don't worry," He then reached into my bag and took out some sunglasses.
"I and Knife were messing with all the bags in the house," Pickle said as he scratched the back of his head.
He gave me the sunglasses and I immediately put them on. Not too bad but it still hurts. We walked all the way to Vidaopolis Square, as we talked about different things. Though I kind of zoned out due to seeing a stag beetle following us.
We finally arrived at Vidaopolis. It was still early in the morning, so some of the stores weren't open yet. But some of the cafes were opened.
"We should get some breakfast, or... wait did you get breakfast?" Pickle asked me. My stomach growled a bit. "Maybe getting more breakfast wouldn't hurt," I said.
We went to some cafe that was near us, though I didn't pay too much attention to the sign. I and Pickle ordered some pancakes with some sprinkles in them. The first minutes were just silence, but Pickle spoke up.
"Uh, have you noticed that the sun still looks like it isn't rising?" He said, looking outside the window. I also looked out, the clouds were a bit gray. Well, actually, they're really gray. "Huh... weird," I thought to myself out loud, quietly shall I say. "Maybe it's just me," Pickle said, "nope it's not just you" I replied.
A few minutes later, we finished eating. Pickle paid for the food, and I stood there and waited. Until I walked out after a second. I walked around the square, looking at the storefronts to see if anything was interesting. There wasn't anything that was THAT interesting, just some clothes and some newly released video games. Though something did catch my eye.
A bookstore.
I didn't recognize the store at all. 'Maybe it's new' I thought to myself. Before I walked in, Pickle walked up to me.
"Why did you leave me man?" he said in a somewhat playful tone. I pointed to the bookstore that was in front of us. He looked and was surprised.
"You want to go to the bookstore?" He asked, I nodded. "Well okay, anywhere you go, I'll follow"
We went inside. There were people, although the place was a bit quiet. It was also quite big, although the storefront made it look small. I mindlessly walked around the store, just minding my own business.
"What kind of books are you looking for?" Pickle asked me.
"Probably some bug books," I said.
"Ah, I should've guessed," he said.
We kept looking around, now looking for bug books. We searched, we've checked, we double-checked for any bug-related books. But we haven't found any.
"Have we checked there?" Pickle asked.
"I think we did," I said.
Pickle looked around for any areas we missed, while I sat in one of the chairs that were provided by the store.
"Hey, I don't we explored in there," Pickle pointed out, I then looked over to the aisle. Two blond girls were standing there, looking for books. I was about to walk over there until Pickle stopped me.
"What happened?" I asked.
"It's Taco and... " he said.
"...Knives?"
"WAIT KNIVES IS HERE AND BLOND?!?!" I screamed.
