Chapter 9

Gamzee has been talking with the girl running this booth for five solid minutes. What the fuck was he doing? After just realizing who you and Vriska were, he decides to walk right up to this other troll and start a friendly chat? Some best bro. Vriska is watching anxiously as he speaks with the woman, while you cross your arms and pout like a retarder wiggler. Whatever. It's not like you were expecting anything. If someone of his class was caught associating with lowly slaves, there's no telling what the hell they'd do. So, you just sit and wait.

After another minute, you glance over again. Gamzee pulls a small pouch out of his pocket and hands it to the woman. She hands him a key and some short length of chain. Okay, this was getting a little weird. They shake hands, and he starts walking towards you again. His expression is more serious than you're used to. It's actually a little unsettling. He stops right in front of you, and you gulp.

Gamzee nods to you and says, "On your feet, motherfucker." You blink. He was so stern. As you scramble to your feet, he turns to Vriska. "You too" he says, and she stands as well. You and Vriska exchange a look of mutual uneasiness. Gamzee takes the chain in his hand and connects it to the chains binding your hands. You stare down at your chains as he does so. The dead look in his eyes genuinely scares you, and you'd rather not see it.

The chain is linked between your hands and Vriska's. You can hear her let out a shaky breath as the cold, metal chains are clasped together. Gamzee holds the other end of the chain. He gives it a slight tug, causing you and Vriska both to jolt forward. "Let's go" the high-blooded troll orders softly. He turns, and begins to pull you two along the path with him. Your bloodpusher is racing with each step. Maybe it's the rough metal rubbing your wrists, or the strange silence of your supposed best bro, or the fact you can hear spiderbitch's bloodpusher pounding harder than your own. You keep your head down as you walk.

After what feels like hours, but was only twenty minutes, you turn off the road and onto another dirt path. This path is about half a mile long, and surrounded by trees. You can't bring yourself to look at the trees too long. Their blue bark and bubblegum leaves remind you of your matesprit's hive. You start to think about her as you follow along silently. Where had they taken her now? She couldn't be too far, right? You had to save her, and the world had to let you. If your cheesy romcoms have taught you anything, it's that true love always wins.

At the end of the path, you come to a large hive. It is three stories tall, and painted with a deep purple. There is a large front porch where a table, a bench, and some chairs are scattered. Everything seemed well kept and expensive. You wonder why Gamzee would bring you here. The juggalo leads you onto the porch. He pulls the key he was given out of his pocket and undoes your chains.

The metal falls away, and you rub your tender wrist. Vriska does the same. "There" Gamzee says, "are you motherfuckers okay?" "Yeah" answers Vriska, and you nod. Gamzee cracks a small smile, a familiar expression. You have always hated that smirk of his, but right now it is actually very comforting. He sits at the table, and invites you both to join him. You oblige, taking the seat across from him. Vriska sits to your left, undoing the cloth used to tie her hair back.

"Sorry if I motherfucking scared you back there," Gamzee tells you, "but it was the only way I could get you bros out."
"It's okay," you reply, "I'm glad you did anything to help us. For a minute I thought you had just fucking left and forgotten us."
Gamzee smiles again, and Vriska takes the next few moments of silence as a chance to interject.

"Same here," she starts, "but I have a few questions. First off, where the hell are we?"
"You are in my motherfucking home, sis" Gamzee tells her. You can feel your expression shift in surprise, and you look over the huge structure again. Vriska seems pretty skeptical as well. Gamzee laughs a bit before explaining.
