I am trapped.

I am trapped, held hostage in my own consciousness, forced to see the world go by through my eyes, forced to watch others succeed and change the world, whilst I sit, immobile, in my imperfectly perfect life, everything society could ask for. Everything a small, weak, malnourished child roaming the smoky streets of London could ever ask for; to live my life.

And yet, I would like anything but.

My name is Adelia Taylor. Born 6th October, 1984. I live in a large country house, I live in a perfect life. So perfect, nobody would want it. everything runs smoothly in the Taylor manor. No scandals, No publicity, no unwanted attention, No fun.

my father, William Taylor, is a businessman who helped uncover a gold mine in 1962, that earned him and his family a grand life full of jewels, gold, and puff sleeves. My mother, Adelaide Taylor was brought up in a wealthy home and attended Miss Harrison's finishing school, though back then it wasn't lead by Miss Harrison, her parents arranged a marriage with my father, it was perfect to earn her family respect. the pair have been married for 38 years now, though I cant say happily. I'll get back to that later.

I grew up in the Taylor Manor, I drew on the walls with chalk, and took apples from the kitchen without the horrible Mrs Bane seeing me. I never was greatly happy with my upbringing, it was dreadfully boring, and yet, I wouldn't change a thing. I know this may sound incredibly confusing, but back then, I thought my life was incredibly unique, I thought my life was like a four leaf clover, and yet my life was like a blade of grass in a field. each slightly different, but each the same shade of green.

My story starts when I was 16. I had never explored outside the walls of Taylor Manor. I had never bought myself a dress, or bought roasted peanuts from a street vender. I had noticed one thing whilst on a brief passing through the streets of London when on a visit with my family to see my aunt May. Those with less, always had more, by this I mean, they were much happier, much more of a community than the snobby rich folk I reside with.

Anyways, enough of this poetic back story.

I uncovered my leather trunk from beneath my bed, In which I had previously packed clothes, money and all of my essentials in case I was in dire need of an escape. It was pitch black outside, everybody in the Manor was asleep, not even the lamplighters were out. I had exactly 7 minutes and 53 seconds before the night guards arrived to protect the premises past midnight, therefore I had to act fast and quietly.

I was in a basic green dress and my hair was held up by a ribbon of the same colour. I picked up my trunk, which was surprisingly light, and tiptoed out of my bedroom, looking back one last time, bidding farewell to my past.

I tiptoed quickly through the corridors, then took a  left down the stairs and quickly opened the door, knowing that if I did it slowly a deafening creak would awake the whole house, I closed the door behind me and I ran.

I ran with no destination in mind. Only knowing that I was now free. I had found myself on the not so busy streets of a small town nearby, but not so nearby that my family would find me easily, I was at least 3 miles away from my house by now and I had come across a small lodging house named 'A travellers rest' Ironic isn't it. Though I wouldn't class myself as a traveller, more of a coward, afraid of their future.

I purchased myself a room and settled down for the night, In the morning I was to fetch the train to London and begin my new life, perhaps I could become a teacher, or a banker, or even a lawyer, or possibly even a Businesswoman.

As you may have noticed, at this point I had no idea of the ridiculous standards society held for me.
