Elijah sat up with some leaves sticking to his face, he peels them all off and throws them back onto the ground. He sniffled and rubbed his eyes, standing up and heading towards the main road.

He looked both ways to make sure that his Dad was actually gone, in case he was waiting there to make sure he'd actually died or something. He breathed a sigh of relief when there weren't any cars in sight and started to make his way down the side of road in the direction towards his house.

The stars were alighting the now night time sky and Elijah was trembling and shaking while walking down the road, it was pitch black and he was struggling to see what was in front of him, the only lighting that he got was from the bright full moon in the dark sky and it did help a bit, but not very much.

He suddenly heard the revving of an engine behind him and he froze for a second as he thought that the vehicle behind him was his own car, the one that his Dad was driving. He slowly turned his head and looked behind him, squinting at the singular light that was now blinding him, he realised that the vehicle that was approaching him wasn't his Dad but was Ryan, the boy who gave him a black eye just a few hours ago and was the reason why his Dad beat him and left him on the side of the road in the first place.
