"Based on the entire facts and material placed on record, it is clear that prima facie, suit patent is a valid patent. The court concludes that the defendant has infringed the suit patent and is liable to be revoked on various grounds under Section 64 of the Act. The plaintiffs are entitled to protection for their patent and a fine of Rs. 60 lakhs is payable by the defendant who is infringing the suit patent".

"Court is adjourned for the day", With that
Judge Kapoor slams the gavel on his desk indicating the dismissal of the case.

(Noise of people chattering and moving )

"Thank you Ms. Krina, we won. Without you, it would not have been possible to get protection on our new patent medicine",Mr. Patel acknowledged

"Don't mention it Mr.Patel, We had a strong case, so obviously we had to win. Moreover I know how it feels to get stolen of your creations".

"Pardon, Ms. Jain", Mr.Patel asked Krina who was now focusing on the wooden bench.

"Huh, Nothing. Congratulations for the win, Mr.Patel", after few seconds Krina replied.

Krina shook hands with Mr.Patel and bid adieu to him.

While winding up her case files, her phone buzzed. She reached for her phone from the pocket and hastily clicked on the newly received mail.

Dear Krina,
"Congratulations, On behalf of the Admissions Committee, it is our great pleasure to offer you admission to NYU School of Law, Class of 2022 and NYU Law LLM Advancing Women in Law Scholarship covering full Tution and fees for two years along with an annual stipend of $10,000! The NYU Law admission process is highly competitive and we congratulate you on this achievement".

Krina's eyes welled up with happy tears. She pinched herself to check whether it was a dream or she was really accepted to Nyu School of Law. After a small impromptu dance, she reread the mail. She started daydreaming of being in the New York city and pictured herself in her dream school.

Coming back to the reality, she immediately sprinted out of the courtroom and headed towards her home. She was excited to break this news to her family.
————————————————————————
Krina hurriedly rings the door bell multiple times.

Her mother opens the door for her. Straight away, Krina wraps her mother into a bear hug.

"Maa, I am so so happy today. You won't believe this but your daughter got intoooo NYU School of Law with a Scholarshippp".

Her mother's  face fell.

Pulling away from the hug, Krina jolted her mother and said, "Maa, Are you listening? I will be going to New York for completing my Masters".

Still her mother had the same expressions.

(Grandmother entering)
"NO ONE is going to New York", Grandmother  announced as she entered the hallway

"Daa..."

Her grandmother cuts her off mid-sentence "You heard that Krina,YOU are not going anywhere" explaining to Krina with high-pitched voice.

Krina gave a confused look to her Dadisa.

"You are coming with us to Rajasthan for the big community event. Vishwa Aunty have chosen a guy for you. His name is Shrey. He is religious and obedient. He works as an equity dealer here, in Mumbai. I am sure you will like this guy".

Krina knew her Dadisa had old school of thoughts and was dominating at times. But never in her life she thought her Dadisa will be dictating her important life decisions.

Krina was shocked but she managed to string some words together and said, "Dadisa, I think you didn't hear well. I got selected to one of the best Law schools to complete my Masters. This means, I will be well qualified to practice law and can become a top notch corporate attorney, just how Dadusa wanted".

"I heard it well, Krina. Enough of your arguments. Your Dadusa has spoiled you for life.
"You need to get this straight, This profession is not for girls . If you keep on pursuing this ahead, what about the household chores, taking care of the children? Girls belong in the KITCHEN".

Krina was tired of hearing those words. She missed her Dadusa the most, especially at such times. If he was here, things would be totally different.

She controlled her tears and her anger both.

She begged in front of her Dadi. But her Dadi was all in denial.

"Okay. On one condition you can to go to New York , only if Shrey and his family allows you to study and work further".

"But, Dadi why do I need to take someone's permission. Who has given them the right to make my life decisions? And most importantly, I haven't met this guy, why are counting on this yet."

"This is how it has been for years and will be. If you don't want to marry Shrey, I have other options too. We have the biggest festival of all times, lot of boys will be attending with their families. I am sure you'll like one of them. Moreover, now is the right time you should get settled. During our times, girls used to get married at 16".

Before Krina could speak any further. Her grandmother cuts in.

"And this time I don't want any arguments. Now, go to your room and start packing your bags", Dadisa declared.

Krina looked at her mother with some hope. Her mother witnessed the whole situation but was compelled not to speak. She didn't want to open old wounds.

With deep dejection, Krina locks herself in the room and tears come crashing by.

Now she has to live by the hope that either Dadisa will change her mind or some miracle would happen.
