Taylor POV

My reaction to Hogwarts was exactly how you would expect it from an American wizard, "That's a school?!?"

Hermione gave me a look, "You didn't know it looked like this?"

"No! I'm freaking American! We don't exactly have castles as schools!"

"Well this isn't a normal 'British' school, is it." She put air quotes around 'British'.

"Huh...you have a point." I look around.

We had just came from the train station. Hermione was dragging me along, I wasn't really paying attention to where we were going. I, finally, decide to look ahead of me. I flipped out on the inside.

There was a really tall man leading the group of first years towards the lake. From here I could see that he has long really messy hair, and a big bulky body. Me, being me, went, 'Cyclopes.'

I tensed ready for a fight to brake out between me and him.

"Uh, Taylor?" Hermione poked me. "You alright?"

"Um, y-yeah, I'm fine. W-who's he?" I stuttered.

"Oh, him? That's the school's ground keeper."

"Why is he so big?"

"Taylor, you can't just go around asking people why they're big." Hermione scolded.

"Oh, sorry."

We approached the lake that had a lot of boats waiting for us.

The ground keeper turned around, "Ok so yer goin' to get in groups of four. And one of yer needs to hold a light, for light."

I got into a group of four with Hermione, Neville, and a guy named Dean.

I was sitting in the back of the boat, glad to be surrounded by water again. Hogwarts loomed over us. The lights seemed to light the way to the castle it's self.

I look at the water next to me. The calmness was being interrupted by our boats cutting threw the silkiness of the surface. I reached out and lightly touch the water's surface. I smiled softly. Nothing could comfort me more then water. I looked ahead at the school I could easily get lost in, and wondered, 'Why do the gods want to attack a place like this? Its acually a really cool place. '

I mean its true, everyone I meant so far have excepted me....even if I'm American.

When we got to the boat house (I'm guessing thats what it is), we walked threw some halls, court yards and up a flight of stairs, where we were met by a an old lady, wearing a emerald green (stereotypical) wizards' out fit.

"Hello, first years, I'm Professor Magonigal. I teach transfiguration and you will all have me this year. Now, please wait a moment while I got get things ready for the house placements." the Perfessor left and I turn to Hermione.

"Mind filling me in a bit?"

"Good god, your dense. There are four houses of Hogwarts, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. In your first year you will be sorted in to one house, and you will stay there until you get out of Hogwarts."

"Oh, I get it now."

I look over and spot Harry and Ron glaring at a boy with sleek blonde hair. I took me a moment to realize that it was Draco.
