Sara had just finished buckling up her sandals when her phone rang. She quickly picks it up and smiles at the name on her screen, answering. ''Hi Babe.''
''Hey sexy, have you left yet?'' Her boyfriend asks.
''No, not yet-''-Oh...''
-But I'm about to.''
''Good. That's good, cause I've already set up the movie, ordered pizza and got out the wine and snacks.''
''Really.'' She giggles, ''That's great. I better hurry then.''
''Exactly. Before I decide to eat everything and leave you hungry.''
Sara pouts, forgetting he can't see her, ''Aw, you wouldn't do that. You love me too much.''
Todd chuckles, and she grins at the sound. ''You know me to well Love,'' he hums. ''I'm going to go now, ok. See you in a few?''
''Yes.'' She laughs at the uncertainty in his voice. What was it with men not believing women could be on time. ''I'm leaving now.''
''You better,'' He playfully warns. ''Because last time you made me wait a whole hour for you.''
''Hey!'' she exclaims, ''I had fallen asleep. You can't blame me for that.''
Chuckling, ''If you say so,'' he quips, causing Sara to roll her eyes. "Fine then... I'm hanging up now, Mr Always Punctual, so you'll see me soon. Love you''
"Love you to.'' The call disconnects and Sara puts her phone into her purse. After what Todd said - even though she knew he was joking - she didn't want to be late this time, so she quickly wears her jacket over her tank top before releasing her curls from its bun, letting it cascade down to her waist. Then giving herself a brief once-over in the mirror she turns and collects her purse and keys from the nightstand before leaving the apartment.
Outside in the cold, dark clouds hover, showing signs of rain soon to fall. She pulls her jacket closer to her body as a particular hard gust of wind passes, blowing her hair into her face. She groans and removes them, tucking them behind her ears where they belong.
Walking down the path to her car, she becomes excited the closer she gets to it. Anticipation thrumming through her body at the thought of seeing Todd. It had been a whole week since last they saw each other. Which to her, felt longer. However, it couldn't be helped as both of them worked. Their jobs taking up practically most of their life, and the only time they got to spend together was on the weekends. But somehow it works.
The pair had met by chance one morning when Sara went to drop off her niece in school, and it just so happened that Todd was her niece's form teacher. A conversation started and by the end of it he had asked for her number, which she happily gave - intrigued and curious to get to know the man behind his desk better . Then, one date lead to another and before they knew it, they were a couple. Going strong for over seven months now.
Rounding her car, she opens up the door, throwing her purse onto the passenger seat, then ducks in and situates herself behind the wheel. She pays no notice to the figure sitting just behind her and his plan as she shoves the keys into the ignition, ready to start the engine. However, no chance is given as the person's hand suddenly shoots out and covers her nose and mouth with an odd smelling cloth. It catches her totally her off-guard and a startled cry to falls from her lips.
On instinct, she begins struggling, swinging her hands wildly in hopes of connecting it to a vital part of the person. Hopefully their eyes or nose. Something. But it never happens, cause in seconds, her hands are captured with one big paw and is held down. A whine filters out. It dawns on her then - her situation - and fat tears fill her eyes before leaking out and running down her cheeks.
Sara didn't know how long she fought for, but suddenly her eyes felt heavy just as black dots invades her vision. Her body no longer felt like her own. All she wanted now was to sleep. And she did just that, as unconsciousness swallowed her whole.
