A joke.

That's what it was. Right?

A stupid, ridiculous, outer-timing, immature joke.

And of all the people to do it, it had to be Landon Walkins. The 6ft 4inch giant, with blue eyes.

Also known as Todd's best friend.

Sara chuckles, but it wasn't from humor.

Still in her crouched position, she glares up at the tall idiot as he silently stares back at her. He hasn't said anything again after he'd found her, only raise a questioning brow as though waiting for her to explain what's she doing down there.

Breathing roughly through her nose, ''Don't give me that look, you jerk!'' she scolds. ''Did Todd put you up to this?'' That's the first thought which crossed her mind, since he and Todd were afterall bestfriends.

But at her words his eyes instantly narrows, his jaw tenses and his hands ball into fist.

He looked just about ready to punch something.

''No,'' he answers roughly.

Sara purses her lips. Well that wasn't the answer I was expecting.

''What do you mean, no," she questions rising up from her position on the floor. Her legs were in pain now from the little time spent crouched and she made a mental note to visit the gym when she gets a chance. ''Didn't you and Todd set this up. You know, practical joke.''

''What part of 'no' didn't you understand, woman?'' he snaps, taking a step forward.

''Excuse me. Don't woman, me,'' she scowls. "I want to know what the hell is going on?''

"Because this,'' she gestures to her unfamiliar surroundings. ''isn't funny."

"What I went through last night wasn't funny.''

She felt tiny compared to his tall stature, having to strain her head in order to stare up at him. Was her words even reaching its mark?

Apparently not. Because he abruptly turns away.

Nope!

Not happening.

In a split second Sara moves and takes hold of his wrist, "Hey! don't turn away from me,'' she barks bringing his attention back to her. An act he doesn't take lightly and he reacts by latching onto her hand, the one holding his wrist.

What were they suddenly playing? Handsy?

There was a fire brewing in his eyes as he dips his head towards hers, bringing both their faces an inch from each other. It allowed her to see his face properly and for the first time since she'd met him she notices the flecks of green in his gorgeous blue eyes and the light freckles dusted on his nose. She could even could smell the mint toothpaste on his breath.

''I did it right!'' he burst, ''I knew you wouldn't of listened to me, so I fucking kidnapped you. I got into your car and chloroformed your ass. It wasn't your boyfriend,'' he sneered, ''it wasn't a game. I did it. Me.'' His voice was dark and full of warning but of course it flew over Sara's head. And the only thing that actually registered at the moment was the fact that that was the first time Landon had spoken so many words to her.

Of all the things, that's what you got?

Goodness! The damn man was too close for comfort and it was messing with her brain.
