"How do you know my name?"

Lyricals mouth moved before she told it to. He only smiled that little smile of his. They stared at each other for several moments, a deafening silence preventing any words from being heard, verbal or otherwise. The boy spoke finally, breaking the silence with a sensation akin to a boom.

"I've been looking for you." A chill ran down Lyricals spine. Looking for her? She had never even seen this guy, let alone known he existed.

"Looking for me?" Again, her mouth moved without permission, almost as if the words she was thinking had been drawn out of her. She kicked herself mentally. "Why were you looking for me?" He shrugged, his smile widening. She fought the urge to shrink back. His smile was not a smile of joy, but one of something else. It spoke of the ability to control her whenever he wished. It spoke of supernatural things that could give her nightmares at the mere thought of them. It spoke of power, of fear, and of things best left forgotten in Lyricals mind.

A hand landed lightly on Lyricals shoulder. She started, her heart-rate accelerating to the point where it couldn't be healthy. She turned her head and realized that it was just Kirtash. She relaxed slightly, and turned her gaze to the boy sitting on the armchair.

"Why were you looking for her?" Kirtash asked, his tone defensive. It was no surprise, considering Kirtash had brought her to live with him, though somewhat unwillingly at first.

The boy ignored Kirtash, and Lyrical felt Kirtashs hand tighten on her shoulder.

"You recovered much quicker than I expected." The boy drawled, his piercing blue eyes on her, his gaze never moving from her face.

"Did you do something to me?" Lyricals mouth moved before she could even formulate the thought. What the... then it clicked. "Stop it."

"Stop what?" He inquired coyly, a delicate eyebrow raising slightly.

"Stop making me say things." She snapped. "It's you that's doing it, right? You're pulling my thoughts out of my mouth before I can stop them." His smile never wavered, but a flicker of interest shone in his eyes, but it was gone before she could think anything of it.

He sat up, and in the blink of an eye, he was right in front of her. She stared up at him, and it dawned on her just how tall he was. She hadn't noticed it, thanks to the skull shattering headache she had earlier, but she saw now he was about six inches taller than her.

He raised a hand to her face before she could stop it, and Lyrical flinched at the sudden coldness in her head. It was like a snake, slithering through the walls of her skull and entering her mind. She tried to move, but her body didn't listen.

"Interesting." The boy murmured.

Memories flitted through her mind like a time lapse video of her life. There were memories she had forgotten about, like going to the beach to collect sea shells with her mom, or going to the park to meet a friend she had forgotten existed. Then she saw the memory of her mom in the hospital room, plastic tubes plugged in to her arms, an oxygen mask over her mouth and nose. Then came the memory of the funeral. It was all blurry, probably thanks to the ten years it had been and the tears that had clouded her eyes the entire event.

No. No. She couldn't live through this again. She pushed back against the snake, but the memories just kept on going. Her mothers gravestone. The pale purple plumeria flowers decorating it.

Lyrical push the snake harder than before. She knew what was coming next. Subconsciously, she felt the boys hand on her face tighten slightly.

The house, dark and lifeless.

Yelling and shouting coming from inside, pain blooming on her shoulder, strangling fear overtaking her as she ran.

No, no, no, no.

She would not go through that again. No way.

Get out of my head! She shouted at the snake and pushed as hard as she could. The snake was burned away, her anger and fear overtaking its frigid cold.

Lyrical stumbled back, her hand going to the small peninsula behind her to steady herself. She was breathing as if she had run a marathon, her eyes wide and unfocused.

The boy stared at her, blank, uncovered surprise contorting his features. After a moment he seemed to realize that he was being open and his face shuttered down to the bored expression it had been.

He turned without a second second glance and left the room, leaving Lyrical behind with Kirtash.

"Hey! Get back here!" Kirtash hurried after him, leaving Lyrical alone with her thoughts.

Her heart stuttered slowly back to its normal rhythm. She placed a hand to her chest, feeling the heartbeat there. It was ok. She was alive and fine. She wasn't there anymore.

She dropped her hand, leaning back against the table, head bowed.

It was only then that Lyrical realized her cheeks were wet with tears.
