Like I said to do, they met me at the fountain, and I was dressed for war. "Uhhh" Aaron started "marines and I ain't taking the risk of our safety so I am prepared," I said as I patted my side where my gun is located at. They simply nodded and I silently followed behind them as we started the walk to the edge of the woods, where the first victim was captured.
The evidence that was gathered and theories that were made was that she was going to take a hike up the trail that started at the edge of the woods and circle back, as it was told she did regularly, the theory was that she was stalked and wasn't aware of that.
So it made her an easy target, also that she liked to do the hiking alone against her parent's regards. "I heard she went hiking," the blonde-haired chick said, "what do you think, Lucas?" I stared at the chick as I looked at the woods, and the surrounding area.
I told them the theory that was circling when it first happened and what I read. "If she went for a hike, her usual time is when the sun is coming up," I started as I stepped up to the hiking trail that hasn't been used in years, due to the incident, "so whoever it was would have figured it out in their 'stalking' but why wait to grab her" I mention, I turned to face them as they stared at the ground where it was said she was taken from.
"They say she was taken here, but there was no firm evidence of that" Aaron said "I doubt she was, this was a heavily populated part of the woods," I said as I stepped past all the grown out limbs, "if any it be on the trail," I motioned for them to follow, god I hated it. I turned my flashlight on as it was dense in here making it darker than usual.
"She would've walked about seven miles," I started and we walked exactly seven miles "and would get captured here," I said as I pointed to a clearing "resting place, a perfect opportunity for the killer to take her," I said as we walked over to the location and found a bracelet. We all had gloves and evidence bags that they had ordered somehow.
"What color bracelet did she wear?" The brunette-haired boy asked "baby blue with her first initial." I said and they showed me the bracelet, it was filthy but you could see what color it was and her initial, C. "She must've struggled" Aaron mentioned as he put it in the bag, labeled it, and slipped it back into his backpack.
They all stared at me "what?!" I said "you are the smart one," the brunette said "I am a marine, not a cop, I just think outside the box," I said as I groan audibly "fine!" I said as they smiled triumphantly. I take a breath "for him to get her and himself out of the trails without being seen..." I trailed off as I looked around.
I walked forward towards the woods, god I do hate this "he would take the off-beaten trail, where no one goes and no one knows." I said and smiled at the unintended rhyme. Holding the limbs back, we stepped in and pushed ourselves through for miles. "This is so dirty and gross!" The girl whined, she wouldn't make it in the military.
It took a while, but we found a rundown shack, where it was said that was the first location of the first murder, each one was at a different spot. "It's so old." The girl said 'dear god what' I thought to myself, I carefully opened the old wooden door, it nearly fell apart in my hands, they carefully stepped In.
It wasn't much, just a big area and that's it. They looked around "there's a dark spot," Aaron said "dry blood" I commented I didn't go in, but that's what happens when blood dries, it darkens. They came out with evidence bags that had some type of hook and then the other with a cloth.
"We ain't sure what she was wearing at the time of her abducting, but this looks old," Aaron said I nodded when I heard a twig snap, the quick draw I had could probably win a tournament. But when nothing came out, and I couldn't see anything in the thickets. I had to chalk it up to animals, even though my gut feeling said no.
"Okay it's time to get out of here," I said uneasily as we went back to the fountain, which took longer leaving than going. "The next location for the next victim is at an old abandoned house," I said "it's located outside of the town about fifteen miles, from what I gathered nobody has lived there since" we gathered up in my truck.
"So how long have you been in the military?" Aaron asked "since I was 17, I'm 27 now got out a month ago on leave," I said as I kept my eyes on the road "why on leave?" Nosy much, I cleared my throat "my mother is sick, she's in the hospital with stage 3 going on stage 4 cancer," I explained, and kept silent after that.
