SYDNEY TAYLOR HADN'T seen her best friend for a very long time. Ellie Hadley had swiftly become yet another mystery of Forks just like Bella Swan before her. The last time Sydney had seen her had been at the wedding between Edward Cullen and Bella Swan where Ellie could barely look her in the eye, showed a skittish demeanour very unlike her and was now sporting the same golden irises that the rest of the Cullen family had. Not to mention her best friend who had struggled with narcolepsy throughout her entire life didn't show a single symptom or had a single episode in the hours-long wedding.
IT WASN'T JUST Sydney that Ellie had left in the dark but also her mother and brother who were just as lost when it came to their daughter and sister. She could be dead. Or the more optimistic approach that she simply wasn't answering her phone. Either way, she was gone, whether that was permanent or not, and didn't look like she was coming back any time soon.
THE TAYLOR FAMILY didn'tknow what to say or do either, especially considering Ellie had been just a huge part of their lives as well. After all, what do you say to a best friend who never had a last conversation?
MONTHS HAD PASSED, seasons rushing by, Sydney had started college, beginning to start a whole life away from Forks. Once winter arrived and she was back home for the holidays she tried a final time, going up to the Cullen household itself only to find it completely empty, no source of life present.
BUT IT WASN'T until a quick walk through the woods a couple of days later just like Ellie had loved to do, that she tripped over the truth. There was her best friend, hunting a deer, blood dripping from her mouth. And then it all clicked, and she hadn't expected the truth at all. But most of all she wasn't expecting to become so infatuated with a certain pixie.
