The air is cool and it's a bit windy. Not enough to blow to make a hustle around but enough to tickle Jimin's cheeks. He tucks his face into his scarf a bit lower as he pinches his fingers through a hole in the fence.
On the other side is a zebra, standing with his head held high as it ignores him.
Jimin sighs, pouting at the zebra with his brows frowned looking adorable, trying to get the zebra's attention by pushing the food more towards its mouth while the zebra is busy flicking its ears and wagging its tail towards the whistling Taehyung. Finally giving up and kneeling. The animal doesn't even glance his way.
"He's not eating," Jimin complains. A few feet down, Taehyung has the full attention of another zebra, whose staring at him as he continues to whistle
"Maybe they get jealous when they see someone cuter than them," Taehyung says simply earning a light hit and glare from Jimin.
"Ow ow why are you hitting me for stating facts" taehyung chuckles while on the other side Jimin is as red as a tomato.
Taehyung had taken him to a zoo that had surprisingly almost all kinds of animals. The shorter was more than excited to see the animals, bouncing on his feet while his eyes growing every minute with amusement
It was fun to watch the creatures staring back at you as you feed them. They spend almost 3 hours meeting and feeding the animal at the zoo, enjoying their company and chitchatting among themselves getting to know which animals they like the most.
"Wanna get something to eat?" Taehyung asks quietly. "I might as well eat these leaves if we don't get something for us to eat." He says pretending to eat the leaf that they were feeding the animals.
Jimin snorts, slapping his hand away from his mouth and gives him a nod.
Taehyung. Now a happy Taehyung takes Jimin's hand in his and leads them both to a not so lavish but decent and homely style restaurant. The restaurant smells like home-cooked traditional meals.
"This is one of my favorite restaurants you know. God their meals are just so good. They literally serve heaven here." Taehyung speaks first and they take a seat towards the very corner of the restaurant.
They order bulgogi, jjajangmyeon, and kimchi jjigae for lunch. Taehyung takes the other's hand and delicately interlocks their fingers " I used to come here when I was young with my mom and dad. They used to always bring me to this zoo once a month and then we used to eat at this same restaurant. My mom told me that this zoo is where my dad had brought her on their first date and that their relationship started flourishing from then. I really hope that same goes for us. I hope this is not our first but also last date." Taehyung smiles softly at Jimin who's cheeks are now pink in color. Jimin squeezes his hand to reassure him.
Later after having food they go to an arcade to play games. Enjoying the carefree space.
Taehyung hums a tune he doesn't know as they make their way to his car, head bouncing from side to side as he licks at the ice cream they bought. It's much cooler now that the sun has gone down, a little too cold for ice cream, but Jimin doesn't mind because you don't need a reason, and Taehyung's eyes are on him whenever he flicks his tongue out to take a bite. And Taehyung wants to touch them. Touch those soft plum lips. With his fingers, with his own lips.
The car ride is comfortable. Silent. With their hands interlocked and a soft tune playing on the radio. Jimin eyeing their hands once in a while to make sure that this isn't a dream. That he isn't dreaming. That he had a real date today. With Taehyung. Not just a play date but a real date. He closes his eyes, he wants to inhale this. Inhale this very moment and lock it up in his heart. Remember this for a long long time. He realizes that he wishes to go on more dates like this with Taehyung. Only with Taehyung.
"So I hope you had a great time today? Did you enjoy today? Did I pass?" taehyung breaks the silence. Jimin gives him the sweetest and cutest smile and nodes.
"So next time? At the beach?" Seeing the shorter get shy Taehyung chuckles and holds his hand tighter.
It takes around 20 minutes for them to reach jimin's place.
Before Jimin could turn away and leave, he leaned in close and left a little kiss on Taehyung's cheek as a little promise. A promise that they would do this again soon and that he was looking forward to whenever that would be.
Jimin blushed hard at his own little act, looking down and not sure what to do. His heart started racing and his palms began to get sweaty from nerves. Peeking up from his eyelashes to see Taehyung's reaction
He touched the cheek where the boy had just kissed in complete wonder. The smile that erupted on his face was huge and probably wouldn't leave for a while.
"Goodbye, baby." And Taehyung was gone, walking away backward, his face still facing jimin confidently and with a little hop to his step. A very big grin on his face and eyes sparkling fondly. Jimin's heartbeat skipped at that word as he kept staring at taehyung, his eyes round and cheeks more red then before.
Getting into the car he drove home in a daze, replayed everything about the date in his head, and reliving it over again.
When Jimin got inside the house, he managed to text the other a quick safe drive and good night. After around 10 minutes his phone buzzed with a message from Taehyung telling him that he still feels the kiss on his cheek making Jimin roll down into bed blushing and giggling, kicking his feet in the air.
After a while they bid their goodbyes and telling each other to rest well and that they would soon meet again in college.
AhEm well.....
