It was a cold night. A boy dressed in tattered clothing dragged himself into his village. “Finally! After a week of pursuit! I made it!” He said before passing out.
The next morning the entire village was gathered around the boy’s body. Another boy came to the forefront of the crowd and kneeled down at the boy’s side. “Ryan! Wake up!” He shouted in his ear and slapped his face.
Ryan jolted awake. “What the heck man!”
“You should’ve come home earlier! You knew where the beach was! It’s been a week! A week!!!!!!”
“Calm down, Drew.”
“Do you know what chaos you put your family in? I know you argue with your sister a lot but she was so worried about you! You’re such a jerk!” Andrew said, tears about to fall out of his eyes. They were best friends, afterall.
Ryan realized the state Andrew was in. “There, there, Drew. But you would’ve have guessed who I ran into!”
“Who?” Andrew inquired.
“Jimmy.”
Andrew's eyes widened. “Did you tell Michelle?"
Ryan shook his head.
Andrew's eyes widened further, if that were still possible. "Michelle's going to kill you!”
“That’s why we don’t tell her!”
“That’s not right. I’m telling her.” Andrew said. “That is after you've rested up.” Andrew supported Ryan as he hobbled to his house, leaving the rest of the village in confusion and thus, setting Andrew and Ryan up for another story to be told. Who knows who'll they'll run into during their next journey into the woods.
