The three days of training camp went by in a heartbeat bomb after bomb it was never ending. Then I got a call from Captain Barkley it was 5:00 in the morning I hadn't heard from him since the for day of training.
He said "Hello John sorry we haven't been in touch I have been getting everything ready for you and the bomb squad."(I knew what that meant.)
He continued "You will now be going to the airport the front desk has your plane ticket you will get on the plane with your bomb squad and then from there you will be with the General he will tell you exactly what to do"
Then he abruptly hung up not even letting me respond so I did exactly what he told me I got my ticket and met my bomb squad at the airport and the plane ride was a breeze I slept through the whole thing. Then we got off and I finally realized that this was it I was going into battle this could be the end of my life. It might just take a week a month maybe even years I just didn't know and that really hit me so I decided to call my family and see what was going on how they were doing and what was happening. After we got done talking I felt a lot better that I got talk to them one last time before I went into battle hopefully it wouldn't be the last time I ever talked to them.We started driving into this very sandy area and God was it hot I was sweating just wearing shorts and a t-shirt! Then we got deeper and deeper into the sand area all around us was nothing just sand and the sky then after a while I could see a very small area of people and machinery it was the base we would be working at I thought to myself finally we are here I couldn't take it any longer in this cramped car did I mention we were in probably the smallest car I have ever seen! When we all got settled in I fell right to sleep I was exhausted after all the commotion. The next morning we had to get up at 3:00 in the morning and got right to work more practicing and some more Intel on exactly what we were dealing with and it was a much bigger issue than I had suspected. They told us the battle was getting way out of hand and there have been bombs in areas they wouldn't even suspect and finally I realized why they needed us but then they told us the three of us would be in the front lines so none of the soldiers would set them off or step on them. I was petrified why me why did they have to pick me there must be millions of people out there that could do this but I guess I did sign up and I am one of the best apparently oh well I have to serve my country and do my duties.
We started out on our journey toward our goal to get rid of ISIS and there terrible ways. We had to set out during the night time we walked all the way till where we thought the border was we then set up out tents. The other men went to sleep while I stayed up for a while and prayed that I would be safe and that my family not worry about me and after a while I realized I would be home in at least 2-3 days unless things didn't go as planed. I woke up the next morning and we started walking more many tiring, hot, sweaty, agonizing miles then we came to a hault as we got to the border across this fence would be things that were indescribable I have never seen so much destruction and blood in my whole entire life at least I thought!
