Summary:
During the qualifications for the Belgian Grand Prix in Spa-Francorchamps Stiles crashes due to the bad weather. Derek worries.
Based on real events: During the qualifications of August 28, 2021 McLaren driver Lando Norris crashed his car, Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel stopped his car to check up on him.
Author's notes: I heard Sebastian Vettel worrying about Lando Norris on the board radio and immediately decided I wanted to make a fic out of it. The way he asked "Is he okay?" gave me all the feels.
In this fic Derek is the reigning champion and Stiles is the rookie driver that has a promising future.
All mentioned characters are fictional. Every resemblance to real persons is unintentional. The described event is used for fictional purposes.
While I asked my husband for the correct Formula 1 racing terminology, there could still be some errors. If you see anything, let me know! Oh, by the way, the fic skips over the fact that in F1 every team has two drivers. Just imagine the other drivers for team McCall Motors and team Wolff Racing are there without being mentioned.
