My Name is Layla and I am a normal student at a pretty normal Highschool. Just your typical average girl you could say. Average grades, 2 friends and a pretty normal family. And just like it's in all those stories I am the Mc of a romantic love story. Or that's how it should be. A certain girl stole that role from me. Now I am really just an average background character with no chance to become the male Mc's girlfriend. "...Hey Layla did you even listen to me? Let me guess... You are still thinking about Jason?", I heard my best friend Ethan who was just standing next to my desk say. It was long break time and I seemingly didn't even notice that. "Let me aloooone...", I said letting my head hit the table. "...Want me to go buy you some chocolate milk? Maybe that will make you feel better?", he asked after being silent for a while. I turned to look at him and nodded. Chocolate milk was the only thing that could heal my wounds now. Ethan then quickly excused himself, went to buy my chocolate milk and returned soon after. Then he gave it to me and I drank the whole thing at once. I was feeling better but still pretty bad. "Ethan? Are you in love with someone at the moment? If not... How about we try being a couple?", I asked him suddenly which made him nearly choke on his own spit. "Where is that coming from? God you must be truly frustrated huh?
As a fact I am in love with someone. Just like with you I lost the fight without even really joining it though. I was no match for him. I mean... Even you fell for that 'rival' of mine.", Ethan answered looking away awkwardly and laughing. That's when it hit me. "JENNY—", I screamed without noticing how loud I got. "IDIOT! Don't scream like that!!!!", Ethan said quickly putting his hand on my mouth to shut me up. "But yes you are correct. I am in love with your crush's girlfriend. Ironic isn't it?", he whispered now with a sort of sad smile. "Then...why don't we split them up?", I asked with a serious face, looking him directly in the eyes. It was quiet for a while. Ethan was starring at me in surprise waiting for me to throw in a 'just kidding' or something like that. He soon realised that I was really serious though. " You aren't seriously suggesting that now right?!", he whispered angrily. " Of course I am! Isn't it unfair? We deserve to be the main characters of this story! Come on let's go get back what was destined to be ours. I even have several plans on how to do it~ What do you say? I am sure you finally want the cute and nice Jenny to be yours and only yours correct? You might try to convince yourself that it's enough to stay friends with her but... We both know this isn't true.", I whispered trying to convince him. I needed him for my plan. There was no way I could do this alone. And there also was no way I would give up on Jason. Not after all this time. People would call me obsessed sure. But I just can't live without him. My beloved Jason.
Ethan was clearly struggling. I knew he wouldn't be completely opposed to it. He really didn't actually give up on her after all. Just a few more words and I will have him on my side for sure. "Aren't you regretting you didn't fight for her? You can still fight for her now you know? Don't give up on this opportunity to make your mistakes all go away~ She will soon be yours. Everything will be fine", I whispered those sweet words that seemed to capture the poor boys heart and blurred his mind. I have to admit that I felt bad using my friend like this but there was just no other way. He just finally nodded giving me the signal that I was successful. Soon the bell rang and we had to somewhat focus on the lessons. After school we went to my place so I could tell him my plan. The evil plan on how to split Jason and Jenny up and make them fall for us. Ethan was silent the whole way to my room. He hasn't been speaking with me actually ever since I was able to convince him to help me. He just stared at me with a pained expression and silently listened to me. "So... I'll tell you our options now. You can even choose the method we try out first~ There is number one: We spread rumours about one of them, make everyone believe them. It might end up making the other one slowly believing them too and distancing themselves. This one isn't really safe though... So let's talk about the next one! Making one of them look like a cheater. It's hard to describe but I'm sure you know what you mean- It's a bit similar to the first one. The next one would me time travelling and make sure they never get together... Whiiiich might be... a little difficult. And then-" I started but suddenly got interrupted by Ethan. " Layla that's enough... I need to go- I need a break from this...See you tomorrow... ", he said. Then he stood up and quickly left.
Ethan's POV:
Why did I let her influence me like this again... This is horrible honestly. Shouldn't have told her that I like Jenny. Especially when it isn't even true to begin with. But if I told her the truth it might have ended even worse. She might have hated me or even might have gone as far as murdering me. That's how she is. I don't understand why I still stick to her myself even though I very well know what she is capable of. Layla is somewhat mentally in some sort of different world. For her this is just like a story in a book and she thinks she is the main character. Something needs to be done but I do not know what. I have no choice but to stick along for now. If I don't she might actually kill Jenny to get Jason. There is no way I can let her harm someone...
