headache (hurt/comfort)

A/N : I have a terrible headache right now so what better way to vent about that then my comfort ship? Also AU of sorts in which Raine gets saved and moves into the owl house. Autistic!Raine because I said so

Raine had gained a few issues from their time in Belos' captivity. Of course, the whole thing had given them PTSD, which was a whole struggle in itself but that was far from the only thing. It also gave them chronic pain (the vines had put an ungodly amount of strain on their muscles) which got bad enough to where they could hardly get out of bed on some days, and they also had started getting random headaches.

One evening, their headache was particularly bad. Of course, their girlfriend was caring as ever. They were incredibly grateful that Eda hadn't grown tired of their new set of issues, but it also made sense. Not only did Eda love them deeply, but she also suffered from a lot of the same issues. PTSD from her childhood, chronic pain from her time as the owl beast, and headaches as a side effect of the curse had plagued her for years. She knew the feelings all too well.

"How you feeling, Rainstorm?" Eda asked, voice a bit quiet as too not worsen the headache or make her partner feel too overstimulated. The headaches often made any feelings of sensory overload worse, so Eda always made extra care to keep lights dim and sounds quiet when Raine was dealing with one of them. "Not great, Calamity" Raine replied honestly, a small and loving smile present on their face.

Eda gave a sympathetic nod before quietly handing Raine an all too familiar potion. It was a painkiller. They were stored all over the house along with Eda's elixirs, so it had been very easy for the owl lady to retrieve, but Raine was still deeply grateful nonetheless. Words couldn't do justice to how in love with her they were.

They took the potion and slowly drank it, knowing that the headache could worsen if they drank too fast. The effects of the potion didn't kick in immediately, as it was one of the cheaper ones on the market (Eda would've gotten better ones but these were much less pricey to buy in bulk, and they vanished quickly between the two of them)

Eda knew this, of course. So, she curled up into the nest next to Raine and softly stroked their hair, the feeling of her long nails scraping gently against their scalp providing a small amount of relief. "You're the best" Raine mumbled out as they curled up against their girlfriend, their hands rapidly tapping their neck as a way to rid of the excess energy that their happiness brought along. Despite the unfortunate situation, Eda's presence made them feel joy.

"I know" Eda replied quietly, giving a small kiss to their forehead. It was getting late, but Luz was out at the library with Amity anyways and King knew he could come in if he needed anything, so neither was particularly worried about anything. It was nice to not have to focus on anything else. Of course, they both cared deeply for their adopted kids but it could be a bit much at times.

Eventually, the pain meds started to kick in, easing the nagging pain behind Raine's eyes, and exhaustion began to overtake them. Eda chuckled as she felt the bard begin to drift off. "I love you" she said quietly, pulling the blanket further over the both of them. "I love you too" Raine replied groggily.

Things weren't perfect, but they were managing.
