Raeda Oneshots

"Hey" Eda said softly, walking over to where Raine was lying down atop a few crates. The hideout was small and not very comfortable, but they made due. "Thanks for saving me and the kids"

"Eda, you already thanked me" Raine replied fondly. "You don't need to do it again" they continued. "Besides, I'm sure you would've done the same for me if the roles were reversed"

"Yeah, but really" Eda responded, sitting next to them. She reached over and tucked a stray strand of hair behind their ear, eliciting a small flinch from them. She retracted her hand and sighed. "You've been through a lot" she continued. "I would've understood if you just... Left us"

Raine reached out their hand for her to take, which she did. "Eda, I never stopped loving you, you know that" they said blankly. "I would've never forgiven myself if you or your kid got hurt because of my inaction"

"I never stopped loving you, either" Eda replied after a moment. Raine couldn't stifle the chuckle that came from that. The owl lady looked at them with a confused expression. "Why are you laughing?"

"Because, like..." Raine trailed off into another laugh. "I mean, yeah" they finally got out. "No shit"

"I made the head of the Bard coven curse"

"You made your ex-partner curse because you are the biggest dumbass they've ever met" Raine corrected, getting an elbow to the ribs in response. "I mean, seriously? I may not be spot-on with my social cues but the way you were when I ran into you at the parade-"

"Do I get to chew you out for scaring me like that?"

"-It was just... It was sweet" Raine said softly, quieting down a bit from their little burst of amusement. They ran their thumb across Eda's knuckles, as though making sure she was actually there with them. "And I'm sorry I scared you" they continued after a moment. "I needed to-"

"Keep up the act, I get it" Eda finished their sentence. Raine smiled.

"I'm glad you're here, Eda"
