Possibility. That's what tomorrow is about. It's about using the time you have to grow as a being and become your best self. Because without tomorrow, how can you hope to change?

Chapter 1 — A Monument

"Tomorrow is what posthumously gives us the clarity we so need to understand ourselves. Live life to the fullest, discover what's next for the next version of Bill Potts," pontificated the Doctor as he sat reading a book. "Maybe a career in tap dancing or knitting," he exclaimed with a small smirk.

Bill moved from one of those lonely chairs affixed to the auxiliary consoles, gave the Doctor an amused glare, and let out a sigh. "Yeah, not me. The only things I've changed in my life involve cable television and colored shoelaces. Remember those?"

"Shoelaces that offer different colors?" scoffed the Doctor as he closed shut his book. "I have a room full of them in the TARDIS. Just don't go looking for it, you might find my Boot Cupboard. It's a nightmare in there right now."

"Noted." Bill paused for a second. "Is that change what you think your friend Missy is doing?"

For a second, the Doctor almost didn't want to answer Bill's question. Instead, he gave her a subtle smirk before sitting up. "Isn't that the question of the hour," he scoffed as he scurried down the TARDIS steps to the center console, flipping switches and pressing buttons. He thought a bit before turning to Bill with a grin. "Speaking of Missy, Nardole's off picking up fresh supplies for the Vault. Chips and what not. Think we might pop out for a bit too. What do you think?"

"Don't need to tell me twice!" laughed Bill. "Those last papers you gave me were dead awful, I swear. Instigating Quantum Waveforms? Stagnant Metabolic and Temporal Anomalies? A trip anywhere is a much needed change."

"Those papers," sharply pointed the Doctor," all served their purpose. Just wanted to test you on our last few field trips."

Bill gave the Doctor an annoyed look. "Look, I get it. But I'm only Human, I can't always be in big brain mode," she said with finger quotations. "Sometimes I need to rest." She let out a sigh. "Anyways, Doctor. Where are we going today? Hope it's somewhere exciting and not another space DMV."

"That was only once — no, twice," apologized the Doctor. "No, I'm thinking far future this time. Away from the nonsense and space DMVs and papers like you want."

"Ooo, how far is far future?" Bill asked. Her face expanded. "Oh! Can I pick? Like a number or something? Is that allowed?"

The Doctor chuckled a bit. "Allowed? Bill, this is the TARDIS. It is practically the personification of the word: allow."

"Yeah, yeah," waved Bill. "All very mysterious and Time Lordy. Now shh, lemme think." She thought a bit, biting her lip. "We've been far in the future before, but I wanna go — say, half a billion years into the future."

"Ah, big numbers today," said the Doctor with a smirk. "I can do that," he said as he started moving around the TARDIS center console with ease, pressing buttons and setting coordinates. "Half a billion, give or take. Let's do about 530 Million years into the future. Lots of change!" Stopping, he set his hand on the TARDIS handbrake but quickly removed it. "Ms. Potts, care to do the honors?"
