Deok-sun picked up her books and stuffed them inside her bag. She was excited to see Jung Hwan after school today because he had told her that he'd wait for her outside their school gate so they can go home together.
"Class dismissed!" Yelled their teacher.
The bell rang and Deok-sun hurriedly went outside. Not far enough from where the gate is, she saw Jung Hwan standing with his hands inside his pockets, looking so handsome as he softly kicked off pebbles on the ground. Deok-sun was on cloud 9 at that beautiful sight. She felt like she's still dreaming about everything that's happening.
The girls who were passing the gate obviously threw glances at him and giggled when they pass through. Deok-sun just laughed at that scene until she saw Choi Jin-ah stopped to talk to Jung Hwan. She was that girl who joined the talent show at their school trip.
"Hi, I'm Choi Jin-ah. I joined the talent show where you guys won. Do you remember me?" Jung Hwan looked up politely to the girl talking in front of him.
How could he remember her when all he can think about that night was his moment with Deok-sun?
"I'm sorry, I don't think I remember you. We came at the last minute that time." Jung Hwan answered.
"Right, I remember..." She paused to stare at him seductively.
"What's your name?" Jin-ah asked.
Jung Hwan cleared his throat and answered, "Kim Jung Hwan."
Jin-ah offered her hand and Jung Hwan almost reached out but was immediately cut off when he heard Deok-sun calling his name.
"Yah, Jung Hwan-ah!" Deok-sun called out.
"You guys know each other? You must be friends." Jin-ah commented as she looked at both Deok-sun and Jung Hwan.
Jung Hwan just nodded and pulled Deok-sun so they can leave. Deok-sun on the other hand wasn't happy about that.
"Why are you so quiet?" Jung Hwan asked her as they made their way to the stairs leading to their neighborhood.
"Deok sun-ah... why are you so serious?" Jung Hwan asked again.
"I have a feeling you'll tell me something stupid like last time." Jung Hwan smirked.
He was obviously talking about that time they walked home from Gangnam when Deok-sun mistook his action for something else.
Deok-sun stopped at the end of the stairs and looked at Jung Hwan with a long face.
"So you think being jealous is stupid? Jerk!" She snapped.
Jung Hwan didn't see that coming. It felt good that Deok-sun felt this way of him when for a long time before, he was the only one getting jealous without her knowing. He smiled silly looking at Deok-sun's frowning face.
"Why the hell are you smiling? Are you happy that you almost touched her hand?" She yelled continuously.
Deok-sun walked away like a helpless kid while Jung Hwan was still stunned. When he realized that Deok-sun was nowhere near him, he made his way to their house.
"Oh, Jung Hwan. Are you here for Deok-sun?" Deok-sun's dad asked him when he saw Jung Hwan about to knock on their door.
"Hello, Mr. Sung. Yes, I'd like to see Deok-sun for a while. I have something to tell her." He bowed.
"Is that so? But she didn't arrive yet. I bet she's at Taek's" Deok-sun's dad answered then went inside their house.
Jung Hwan was a bit annoyed hearing that her dad thinks she's at Taek's. Well, it's not like that's a big deal because that's what they normally do as friends, but even so, he couldn't help but feel a slight pang of jealousy.
"Dongsaeng-ah, where are you going? Deok-sun is here." His brother suddenly yelled before Jung Hwan could open their gate.
"Really?" He answered, surprised.
"Did you two fight? Mom made her wait in your room." Jung Bong stated.
Jung Hwan rushed off to their house and saw his parents in the living room waiting for him.
"Jung Hwan-ah, it seems like Deok-sun is in a bad shape right now." His dad worriedly said.
"Yes. She looked like she was about to cry." His mom added.
"Who would ever make my Deok-sun cry? Is it you?" His dad looked at him with a questioning glare.
"Why would I do that?" Jung Hwan laughed. He was always amused by how his dad adored Deok-sun like she was his own daughter.
It also made him happy that she had that close bond with his dad. She makes him happy with her cheerful attitude.
"Whatever. Just go inside your room and comfort her." His parents pushed him to his room.
There he saw Deok-sun lying down on his bed and looking at the ceiling like it was a bad view. He looked at her admiringly and thought that she looked really pretty. It was definitely a huge relief that she wasn't at Taek's house because he'd probably die of jealousy.
"I feel weird, Jung Hwan-ah. Ever since we dated, I feel a lot of weird things that I think are inappropriate. I mean.. I get to feel jealous now when you talk to other girls, but before we don't even care who we talk to. It's crazy." Deok-sun started off crying.
"I think that's because we love each other so much that we don't want other people to come between us." He sweetly said.
"But why did you nod at her question? Did you want her to think we were just friends?" She grouched.
"The fact that I waited for you there says it all." He chuckled then went over to the side of his bed.
Deok-sun got up and sat close to Jung Hwan.
"But I want those girls to know that you're mine." She pursed her lips and sighed.
Jung Hwan's heart skipped a beat. He never thought those simple words would mean so much to him. Her unexpected declaration sent shivers down his spine. He wasted no second to kiss her with all the love that's overflowing from his heart. A kiss that he'd hope would give her all the assurance that she needs. Deok-sun gave in and responded with the same amount of affection.
"I love you." Jung Hwan uttered softly as he planted a gentle kiss on her forehead.
