Wing walked in and behind him followed a gray haired woman who wore the metal clans robes. Her light green eyes shone beautifully and small wrinkles were visible upon her light tan face. She gently smiled as she sat down on the couch opposite of me. "Hello. I'm Suyin Beifong. My son told me you were sent here by my mother." I smile softly and look up at her, remembering my manners.
"Um, yes I was." I try not to stutter remembering that she is a senior and on top of that, Tophs daughter. "Toph actually raised me." She looks surprised and then laughs slightly. "I didn't know mom was still interested in raising children." I open my mouth to say something but then hear a loud commotion outside the door. "Your children ruined my masterpiece! They're crushing my individuality!" I hear a man angrily yell.
"Oh come on. They're just kids! Besides don't you think your getting a little old to be lounging around and playing artist?" A woman shouts back. I look at the door and it slams open. "Mom, tell Opal to take her children back to Republic City! I'm tired of having them run around like animals destroying my artwork!" The man says.
"Ohh is someone angry because their precious artwork was supposedly destroyed by a couple of kids?" The woman says waving her arms around while she exaggerated. I almost burst out laughing at the sight of it all. Two grown adults fighting and crying to their mother. Its not like its a bad thing though. I've just never seen something so odd.
"Be quiet Opal! Why don't you go back to Republic city and be a good mother by letting your kids see Bolin!" He says. "We came here to visit the family! He couldn't come because the Spiritual Affairs Association is holding a week long meeting!" Suddenly Suyin speaks up "Huan, Opal, we have a guest. Would you please stop fighting like a couple of teenagers!" Suyin looks angry as she scolds her grown children.
Its getting harder to control my smile as they look down embarrassed. I turn my face quickly to the side and hold in my laughter. Wei looks over at me with concern. "Hey are you okay?" I take a deep breath and turn towards him. "Um, I'm fine." I close my eyes for a second only to feel a hand on my forehead. "Your face is red, you might have a fever!" I look up to see Wing leaning in to observe my red face. My face must be red from holding in my laughter.
"Who's she?" I hear a young girls voice and turn to where Opal is standing. Next to her is a young girl. She has green eyes and long dark hair reaching her shoulders. Her skin is a light tan like Opals and she looks to be about 8 years old. She looks a lot like Opal. Next to her is a younger boy.
He looks like he's about 6 and has the same color eyes. His hair is dark and short and he has a lighter skin tone. "This is...?" Suyin looks at me and I remember I haven't introduced myself yet. "O-Oh." I stutter, embarrassed at them all looking at me at once. "I'm Olive." I say quickly. "Well I'm Kali!" The girl cheerfully states. "And this is-"
Before she can finish the younger boy interrupts. "I'm Conner!" The boy almost shouts. I look at him and he blushes. Before I know it, he's run up to me and hugged me by the waist. He climbs onto my lap and I laugh quietly. He sits on my lap, his small arms around my neck, still blushing.
"Will you be my friend?" He asks looking up at me with his large puppy dog eyes. He's adorable. I smile and nod. "If you want me to." He grins happily and continues to cling to me."So, Olive, why are you here?" Asks Huan. They all look at me. I feel nervous and my palms start to sweat. I get anxious when people stare. "I-I um...B-Because... " My stutter is getting worse. I feel so nervous. Maybe I should just leave and go back to the swamp. A place where no one bothers me or stares at me, and I can be alone.
That thought only lasts a second. No I can't. I promised Toph. I calm myself down a little and begin to speak. "Actually I don't really know why. All I know is it's important. I know it sounds ridiculous but Toph told me that her family would understand why I came. I don't know what she meant, but she said that I would understand one day." I let out a huff and feel a little shaky. In mere seconds something seems to wash over me.
Huh? Why do I feel so weak? My body feels heavy and hot, and my vision is blurring. What is happening? I feel Conner get off of me quickly and I hear the faint voices of Wing and Wei. "Olive are you okay?" I heard Wing ask. Someone touches my forehead and gasps. "She's burning up!" I hear Wei say.
I feel dizzy and groan. As I fall forward someone catches me in their arms. They pick me up like I weigh nothing and put one arm under my legs, the other under my neck. I'm being lifted off the ground and carried in someone's warm arms. Warm... Muscular Arms.... I slowly fade out of consciousness. I guess I really did have a fever.
