Before jumping into skincare it's important to identify your skin type to find what products are best suited for your skintype!

Skin types

↪Normal

↪Dry

↪Oily

↪Combination

↪Sensitive

Now that you know your skin types let's break each one down!

Normal skin

Congrats! You have normal skin. Your skin produces just the right amount of oil (if you'd like to be more fancy then call oil sebum), you have little to no problems or imperfections.

Dry skin

The term "dry skin" is pretty self-explanatory, but if you want a slightly more detailed explanation then here! If you have dry skin this means your skin doesn't produce enough oil, or sebum, so your skin is more likely to lose moisture.

Oily skin

The opposite of dry skin, oily skin means your skin overproduces oil. People with oily skin tend to break out more as acne bacteria feeds off sebum.

Combination skin

Hello fellow combination skin people! Combination skin means your skin can be dry and tight in some parts, while other parts can be oily.

Sensitive skin

Sensitive skin tends to be more dry as well as flaky, your skin also gets irritated/inflamed easily. According to Shereene Idriss, a board certified dermatologist, sensitive skin is the only skin type not related to sebum, you can have oily-sensitive skin and combination-oily skin.

How do I identify my skin type?

It's actually really easy to discover your skin type! It's important to first wash off any makeup you are wearing! If you're not wearing any then just wash your face with only water. For those wearing makeup, I'll wait for you to finish. Well, now you have that makeup off, wash your face with only water as well, and then do absolutely nothing. Sit around on your phone, read a book, drink some water, write a story, paint, draw whatever! After an hour or two, check your skin. See how it reacts. If your skin feels tight, then you have dry skin. However, if your skin looks greasy you most likely have oily skin. If you feel dry in some places, but feel oily in some other places (mainly your t-zone which is the forehead, nose, chin) you have combination skin! If your skin overall feels normal, not too oily and not too dry you have normal skin! Sensitive skin is harder to tell, as it's the only skin type that doesn't have to do with sebum but if your skin feels mainly dry and looks red you might have sensitive skin!
