Y/N POV

I watched Steve go down the stairs to the storm cellar.
I sighed, turning on my flashlight and going after him.

Steve pulled a string, making a lightbulb light up.
I immediately saw something big, and slimy at the floor.

"What the hell?", I murmured , picking it up with my crowbar, shaking.
"Is that its... skin?", Steve asked.
I looked at him: "Possibly?"

"Steve?", I heard Dustin, "Steve, what's going on down there?"

I stepped into his view, holding up the crowbar: "Get down here."
I saw Dustin flinch before stepping down the stairs, hesitating.

"Oh, shit", Dustin mumbled, looking at the skin as he went downstairs.
"That's not all", I chuckled in panic, pointing at a hole in the wall.
"Oh, shit!", Dustin exclaimed.

Steve shone into the hole with his flashlight.
"No way. No way man!", Dustin whispered, looking at the tunnel behind the hole.

I lifted two buckets of meat out of Steve's car, as I heard Lucas' voice on Dustin's device:

"Dustin. This is Lucas. Do you copy? Dustin?'

Dustin walked away:
"Well, well, well, look who it is.
Well, when you were having sister problems, Dart grew again, he escaped and I'm pretty sure he's a baby Demogorgon.

I'll explain later, just meet me, Y/N, and Steve at the old junkyard.
And bring your binoculars and wrist rocket."

I listened to Dustin, not being able to make out what Lucas was saying.

"All right, let's go", Steve exclaimed.
I took a bucket of meat and a stuffed a can of Gasoline into my backpack.

———

I threw the raw meat on the train rails, listening to Steve and Dustin.

"Okay, so. Let me get this straight", Steve said, "You kept something you knew was probably dangerous in order to impress a girl who... who you just met?"

"All right, that's grossly oversimplifying things!", Dustin answered.

"I mean, why would a girl like some nasty slug anyway?", Steve sighed.

I turned around:
"It was pretty cool at first... before it ate a cat, I mean."

I glared at Dustin, who gave me an "I'm-sorry-look".

"Well, even if she thought it was cool, which she didn't, I... I just...", Steve stuttered, "I don't know. I just feel like you're trying way too hard."

"Well, not everyone can have your perfect hair, all right?", Dustin mumbled.
"It's not about the hair, man. The key with girls is just... show her you don't care", Steve mumbled, shrugging.

I turned around, looking at them:
"What."

"Even if you do?", Dustin ignored me.
"Yeah, exactly. It drives them nuts!", Steve smirked.
I raised an eyebrow at them.
