I gulped as I slowly closing the register before placing both hands down on the counter.
It'd be best if I didn't lie to Akame. First due to the guilt and second if they ever learned the truth. So I just had to word myself carefully. I didn't need to tell the whole truth after all.
Y/n: "Well, I've known about it for about 2 years now." I explained looking at her with a straight face.
Akame: "Do you know the name of your sacred gear?"
Y/n: "Yes. It is Incursio." I said with a nod.
Akame: "Who taught you how to use it? And fight at that level?"
Again I flinched. How could I word this so that it wasn't a lie? That would be very tricky... But still, I had to try. After all, this was my chance to get closer to them.
Y/n: "I was taught by a group of very close friends. Sadly they... Aren't in this world any longer."
She stared at me for a moment before she stood up walking closer and closer to me. Before she was standing right in front of the counter.
Akame: "The boss wants to meet you."
It took all of the training, mental fortitude, and patience I had not to crack a smile at this.
Y/n: "The boss?" I asked looking at her tilting my head feigning ignorance.
Akame: "The boss is my boss. The person I work for." She said.
Y/n: "So... How could I meet her?"
Akame: "By following me." She said standing up and just walking towards the exit.
I was shocked at the suddenness of this. It was that easy to meet the boss? I can't believe it.
But quickly I got over my shock and quickly walked around the counter. Turning off the light and putting the closed sign on the door.
Luckily it seemed like she was walking at a semi-normal speed. I think it was because of the other people nearby. But still, I could at least follow behind her.
Of course, I wasn't even shocked when she headed near the outskirts of town. Of course, they wouldn't have the main base inside the town. That would be too easy to find.
But still, I was a bit shocked when we kept walking even after it had reached dark... There was no way it was that far. Or was it because she was going slow on purpose for me?
Y/n: "Uhm... Do you want to go faster? I don't think it'd be a good idea to spend the whole day just walking there." I piped up.
She just turned to look back at me. And the next thing I knew was she began running away far quicker than your average Of course. I wasn't your natural human either. So I just took a moment to prepare and took off after her. Of course, Akame was faster than me. That was a given.
But she wasn't going at her top speed so I did manage to keep up. Luckily following right behind her let me know of the terrain ahead.
Letting me leap over bushes or the occasional stream moments after her. Honestly, this felt nice... I couldn't go all out with much of anything anymore. So running at my top speed felt freeing.
And going at this new pace it only took us a few more minutes to reach where she was trying to take me. The base... Practically a perfect copy of it. Etched into the side of a mountain and all.
It was very nostalgic to just see this again. After all of my time training, Resting, And getting closer to the others. But I quickly noticed she kept going.
