Have you ever had one of those days when you feel like every thing is too bright, too cheerful, too positive, almost too good to be true? Well today feels like one of those days to me and being my little superstitious self, I have been feeling a little jumpy today, almost waiting for something to happen.

A big yawn escapes my mouth as I go through the emails on my phone while struggling to keep my eyes open, a side effect of having anxiety. On other days I might have gone off to bed -today being Sunday and all- but today is well.. today is an exception.

The news runs on the TV in the background, the monotonous forecaster describing the possibilities of rain at some places, while I drag my lazy self up to make a cup of coffee. I love watching news, researching about every little bit that I don't know much about and discussing about it with my best friend who is also a nerd like me. A lot of people say that best friends are the opposites of each other, helps balance out personalities, but I feel like nerds always flock together.

I am about to pour milk in my cup when I hear two familiar names. Running back to the hall, I am shocked to see the faces of my parents plastered on the screen with the caption, KIDNAPPED.

Tears clouding my vision, I immediately grab my mini bag and throw in some money, a chocolate, water, ID etc before grabbing my phone and heading towards the police station. How is it possible that within 3 hours of talking to them, my parents got kidnapped and most importantly by whom? My parents are one of the sweetest and kindest people in this world, they are my world, I will find them!

As I run out of the society gate to catch a cab/rickshaw, I spot a van parked in the corner of the road with some shady people standing beside it and looking at me. For some reason my heart tells me they are involved with my parents' kidnapping. My reasoning being that I have never seen their faces nor heard my parents describing them before, I continue down my path in search of a public transport, when I am stopped by a voice telling me to stay away from them and not go in their direction.

Wait what was that voice? I rub my eyes and look up to see that the creeps have moved a little closer to me and are sporting a smirk. As I turn back to move towards the protection of the society gates, I am shocked to see that the place where my society was supposed to be has now disappeared  or to be precise is burning.

I scream and start panicking when I hear my mother's voice. Turning back I see her climbing out of the van along with my father. Immediately, overcome with emotions, I run towards her but its too late by the time I notice that those people aren't my parents but just their doppelgängers. I make a futile attempt to run away but am dragged and pushed inside the van by the demons who are now laughing at my misery.

After making sure that I am in no position to escape, they start the van, and drive through burning lanes full of people in agony. Screeching noises pierce through my ears, almost making me go deaf.

What is this place, how did I reach here? As we drive through the city or this hellish place that was supposed to be my city, my heart starts thumping in my chest. I deliberate on whether I should ask them the questions bubbling in my mind or not, atleast find out who they are.

With my eyes twitching from all the nervousness and my knees shaking violently, I am about to ask them about their identity when suddenly the cuffs disappear, and I am thrown out of the van.

I get up in a daze, with my head pounding, my little bag no longer in my possession, and start walking in a random direction. What is really going on? I walk for some 10 minutes that feel like an hour, on a deserted road ,when I see a huge crowd of people standing in a circle and watching something.

Running towards them, I feel the ground slipping from underneath my feet when I see my parents trapped in an ice cube thats slowly evaporating with them. As I start making my way towards them, the doppelgängers appear out of nowhere and secure me in my place. I scream and cry and put up a little fight, before watching my parents disappear into thin air.
