The bell rang, echoing through the halls of Station Square High. James and Jio exited their history classroom with relief. Jio gave a little whoop and said, "Thank god that's over. James, I gotta ask you something."
"Mhmm." He sounded distracted.
"Something important."
Jio not noticing that anything was wrong started babbling about this dinner her mom was going to have and she needed an excuse not to go. It was their annual family reunion and Mike the Moron was usually wasted and said idiotic things to embarrass their family. She looked over at Sonic to see that he wasn't paying attention to what he was saying. Narrowing his eyes, Jio crossed his arms over his petite chest.
"I met this guy last night at a bar and had a one night stand."
Still not paying attention to him, Jio sighed with frustration and snapped his fingers in front of James. "Helloooo. Earth to James. What the hell are you starting at?"
He turned to look in James' direction and his frustration disappeared. He was staring at Audrey, the prettiest and one of the most smartest girls in school. Jio dropped his hands to his sides and stiffened. James was checking Audrey out. He looked like a lovesick puppy. Jio snapped out of it and regained his normal aloof composure.
"Please," Jio scoffed as he walked down the hall with him. "Audrey? Little miss perfect? That's who you've got it bad for?"
James nodded, running a hand through his dark green orbs. "She's the one, Jio. Audrey's perfect.."
He rolled his blue jewel like eyes. "James, you've said like three words to the girl and suddenly you're infatuated?"
He looked at him and said defensively, "We talk all of the time."
"Yeah, that's why I always see the two of you together."
"Jio?"
"Yeah?"
"Shut it."
Jio saluted him mockingly. "Whatever you say, James. Afterschool, my place?"
"The usual spot?"
Jio smirked and said, "The usual."
When he disappeared inside the classroom, Jio's smile faded. He clutched his books tighter and walked down the hallway towards his classroom. He couldn't believe that James had set his eyes on Audrey of all people. He always had conquests when it came to girls, but Audrey? She was Little Miss Perfect, which was worse. She was gorgeous, smart, and just a fun girl in general. Who wouldn't like her? At this point, Jio prayed Audrey wouldn't fall for James, but he knew it was hopeless. James was the perfect guy and who wouldn't want him? But what about me? I'm also smart, handsome, and can also be mistakenly called a girl.. Jio groaned as he thought about it. "Maybe I should just.. find someone else.." he murmured.
He sighed when he reached his classroom. James, his best friend, was so oblivious. He couldn't even see that he was standing right beside him. He would never look at him romantically. To him, they were just friends.
Jio, on the other hand, has been developing feelings.
